This is a subject that has been intimated in news bias but has got to be an issue on its own.
The biggest producers of fake news now want to blame everyone else of putting out fake news.
When CNN comes out and says it is illegal for you to read Wikileaks and they are the only ones to read and report on it. I think it is up to the person to figure if it is fake and not give a group that has a record of fake news telling us what is true.

There is no doubt now, or even has been any doubt that fake news is a media stream gotcha. Even on this forum, when I look back at the posts since Ken opened up shop, there are numerous complaints about news that cannot be trusted. Bottom line is that "radically enhanced" media script is what it is and nothing thus far has been done about it either by the broadcasters themselves nor on the federal / state level so pray tell, what is to be done to those who push the garbage upon us?

If we allow the FCC to handle the problem with some sort of censorship then we allow a couple of humans to decide what is true and false which always leads to a corrupt or mismanaged situation depending upon personal bias. The other part of that is we wind up with something akin to TAAS during the cold war. Further, how far does the 1st amendment apply to outright lies by the media?

Dunno, but hoping somebody out there has some good ideas on the matter.

Here is a good discussion on the topic of "fake news," as defined by the mainstream fake news outlets.

An excellent study @Ken Anderson. The link you have jammed up but I found it on youtube and it played just fine. Narrative is an important aspect and I hope others enjoy watching it as much as I did.

Now, one other side to the news is some of the stuff I sometimes get on FB. Some good and some not so much. One site I have been enjoying (when it comes around) is a site called, "news that isn't pushed". It's well studied, presented in a down to earth manner and outstanding in content.
It's put out by a husband and wife team and I would hope that everyone on this forum gets a chance to look some of the articles over.
Let me see.........the husband and wife team's name is uh....yeah......something like Michelle and Ken! Funny, they even have the same last name as yours!

There has been a consistent censorship of the internet I have found news stories and when you go back it shows up a error 404 or some other error code. There has been many alterative medical websites that either have been taken over or just disappeared. Or you might get a sign from your anti-virus that it is an unsafe site and they prevent you from going there. Who is this unseen person who makes judgements on what you see. The media will run with something saying so and so did this we got it from an unconfirmed source. If it is unconfirmed than don’t print it. Or we got this from a CIA,FBI. source who wants to be anonyms. Then don’t print it. The CIA gets billions of dollars to make fake terrorist video that the MSM put out as fact. Do you own fact checking and be careful who you use as a true source some of these so called fact checkers are government funded.

Who'd be stupid enough to think Donald Trump doesn't know what a 747 costs. What gets me is the stupidity of these reports, and worse, people that believe them. NBC, you've come a long way baby, since the days of the colorful peacock, you've come a long way down to the skids.

The whole thing with the "left" has been to take all their dirty deeds, and create a FAKE "right" that doesn't even exist. To know exactly who and what the "left" does, all we have to do is listen, and read what they say about the "right". They could take all their accusations, and sign at the bottom next to: We, the "right" confess to all of the above".

Yes Denise, Trump does know the cost of a 747 and decided to outfit a 757 for his own transportation. Technically, although Trump doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles that is required to fly the pres around, he does own a better and more up to date jet than air force one.

    Again, I enjoyed the video/commentary @Ken Anderson.
One side of the fake news is obviously unresearched news which by all standards of today's media is good and proper news. If the public can't be sucked in then it isn't worthy to be in print no matter the cost involving reality.

One such "suck in" is a little thing called the popular vote in a presidential election. The media is all ablaze over who actually has taken the popular vote nation wide when in fact it makes little or no difference. Each state makes it's own rules regarding a citizen's rights in a presidential election but no where, no where and may I write it again, no where does it say in the constitution of the United States of America that John Q. Citizen has the right to vote in a presidential election.
Making the public (who do little or no research) believe that somehow the popular vote makes a big difference in the grand scheme of things is erroneous.

Now, folks in the news are all aflutter and quoting and loving A. Hamilton and somehow correlating the Federalist Papers with the Constitution. Sorry, there is no news there and so much so that those quoting the Federalist Papers haven't done their research because it was the very writer of those papers that birthed the Electoral College. There have even been quotes from "The View" that came from the broadway play and were not actual quotes from Hamilton himself.

I am not sure which one is weirder: People who report crap or people who believe it. Sometimes I would much rather read: "African woman gives birth to lizard" than some of the stuff that is sanctioned by major news broadcaster companies.

The latest attempt Mark Dice is pointing out just how crazy the Democrats and NWO are getting
A video just released on you tube by celebrities trying to get the electoral collage to vote against Trump.
Comments are disabled so they do not want to know your input solo theirs kind of like a one sided interview. The likes and dislikes show the truth likes 658 - dislikes 3,088 if the people are not allowed to speak out at least they can show their dislikes.

Good post! One other thing that these same "celebrities" (also on "the view") is that they are saying that they can immediately start proceedings for an impeachment the moment Trump raises his hand and says "yup".
It might get a rise from those who simply believe what they hear and read but does absolutely nada for those who have even a minimal amount of constitutional education. Nope, doesn't even make for good cardio by even one extra heart beat.

lizard boy is still a better read.

I was just reading all these posts in politics and it's a fact we only have a few members with liberal views but none seem to share them.

Maybe we should be called the "Conservative SENIORSonlyCLUB. :)

Sorry for going off track @Martin Alonzo but it just seemed to jump out at me.

Perhaps there is a lot of validity within your statement @Chrissy Cross and so much that it marks a serious prospect that we are lumping individual thoughts and news into catagories rather than looking at the actual purveyor of bad news.

I am very guilty of categorizing the media and others of being left, right, conservative, dem and rep that an individual guilty of wrongfully placed news is no longer the culprit but rather the whole club they might or might not belong to.
Maybe if each individual was given the distinction of having a mind of their own and everyone respecting that singularity of thought with pre-studied critique instead of blaming a whole section of political and media rivalry we might all speak our piece without threats of retribution by a whole clan. Incorrect and misleading news is wrong news no matter the political, religious and socioeconomic status of the individual creating it.

Catagorically, I suppose I am a conservative but in reality my own thoughts and beliefs bridge over an entire spectrum with each part in a catagory unto itself and cannot necessarily be placed in a grouped folder.
Personally, I am impressed with intelligent and well studied opposition from individuals but not so much if someone simply says, "as a liberal or conservative I believe that.......".
I wish it were different but if wishes were flowers we'd all be sitting hip deep in posies.

I don't think anyone in our age group doesn't know about this word, and how we all felt about it, we hated it because we knew there was evil behind it. Some believed it, just like today, and some fought against it, just like today. They say if we don't learn from history, we are sure to repeat it (something like that).

Propaganda is "information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view").

I just think that different people have different agendas, or their own reasons to believe as they do. But at the center of it all, all Americans, and I mean ALL, need to have some well-wishes for all other Americans, no matter their opinions. I can't help but think about the phrase "divided we fall". I can't believe all liberals truly want America to fall, or all conservatives. I'm just being logical again, but if America falls because of being divided, doesn't anyone see how ALL lose?

It's almost as if we are doomed to be divided, and I think it's time for those Aliens from outer space to attack like in War of the Worlds, and Independence Day. Laugh about it but you gotta admit, it may take something like that to ever bring people together again. And while they're at is, if everyone lost everything they owned, no more technology, phone, nothing, and watch people start working together to rebuild. Yeah, I think we've got it too easy, many of us, spoiled, lazy, and self-centered.

I got this in an email "forward" from my sis this a.m. @Martin Alonzo and thought "bologna" right away! Hah, like Facebook cares anything about us knowing the truth. Zuckerburger or whatever his name is was down on the "right" all through the campaign. Here's the email if anyone wants to see that as well (link that was in the email that is):

I just spent most of the afternoon with people (all seniors) about 7 or 8 of us talking (and about the same amount of people that were milling around listening) down in the rec area. Funny how they are NOW all talking openly about how glad they are Trump won. These same people I don't even know if they voted, but wow, no one, and I mean employees, other tenants said a word against Trump. All against Hillary and so glad she didn't win.

I know at least half of those people were against Trump, or for Hillary. I think they are Americans that are finally paying attention!! Yeeeeeeeeehaw!! Man we had a good yack! They brought up things that blew me away, I mean, I didn't think they knew anything because no one was talking before Trump got elected!!

PS THEY brought up the Fake-news thing tooooooooo!! LOL!!

Oh wow, I love this. Just talked to a guy on the phone that lives across the way, pure democrat right;) He told me that he's been democrat all his life, and I told him I was growing up. Then he told me that when this campaign started he was talking to a lot of people that he knew were smart people, but they all wanted Trump;) So he got to thinking that if they all wanted Trump, and not Hillary, he should dig a bit instead of just going with his typical "inherited" democrat party.

There's a true example of what has happened a lot in our country. Same goes for some that always voted Rep. but hey, as long as America is awake, paying attention, and making an educated vote, I say that's good news!!
