I like seeing people react to old favorite tunes for the first time. Some "reactors" are pretty open to trying new things and projecting positive feelings about music they are hearing for the first time.

Some will say "I don't care what somebody else thinks!" I suspect that underneath that statement may lie subtext such as "I've never cared about other peoples' feelings." That makes me feel sad for them.

Here's a couple I like as reactors, but there are many more from around the entire world:

Have you explored these videos much? Do you enjoy music reactions? Is this video format simply not of interest to you?

I enjoy the new singers on the talent shows (mainly America's Got Talent and The Voice), and have sought out the reaction videos of some of the emerging talent that I like. It's fun so see someone who is as blown away by the new artists as I.

There are other "deeper topic" reaction videos that are just plain annoying, almost like watching someone read aloud. [pauses video] "I did not know that." [restarts video] I guess on some subjects, I need a deeper analysis.

But (to me) that all applies to the social/political stuff. Music transcends all of that.

I enjoy the ones that appear legitimate, and I like some of them a lot, but when someone tells me they've never heard of Stairway to Heaven or Bohemian Rhapsody, that strains my belief.

That is easier to believe of younger people and people who grew up and live in India or somewhere like that.

The first ones were real reactions more so than those that came later.
It is true that many blacks refused to listen to music other than their own. Over time that has changed some.

I skip thru this one, it's too long, but it is cute, Imo of course.

I don't believe that's the case, Marie. From what I have seen (and admittedly I don't sit and watch "reaction" videos), the reactors are young people who just haven't heard a lot of older music. Of course I could be wrong and I quite often am.

Exactly. It's like Ken's observation that there are people who have never heard Led Zepplin. I bet there's a ton of folks here who have never heard of Les Brown or Charlie Barnet or most of the big bands of the 40s.

It's a generation thing, not a race thing. I don't even want to get into the logistics of realizing that the singer is not your race so you rapidly plug your ears in defiance. Must make driving tough.

    Seriously, girl.

And I think you'd be right. Plus most blacks didn't listen to much of our music.
And were pleasantly surprised that some whites actually had "soul", while some also liked the lyrics of some of our songs.
I also liked the kid videos.
