    Very interesting perspective @Debbie Allen. The only thing close to reincarnation to me in the Bible would be when our earthly bodies are "reincarnated" to glorified bodies. Hopefully as we go through the different "seasons" (birth, childhood, adulthood, senior years) of our lives we do mature and grow into all God intended us to be.

    My husband says he's going to live to be 110 and I tell him "Fine Babe but don't expect me to be there with you as I want no part of it." I'd be 106. :(

    No, you are missing it altogether. Christ said Oh Death Where Is Thy Sting. It is alo mentioned when someone sees Jesus and exclaims him to be an older prophet. It's all over the bible, jut many do not see it as it is explained away. We do lose our bodies and we do come back. Most people think it is to the same body...not true. They are also taught that it is to do the same as we did in anotyher previous lifetime...that is also not true. Though we do have Karma from this lif that we are living and from out past lives too and what we are doing in this life will be Karmatic in the next one.

    Here is someting that I found to be a bit helpful:

    I am so glad that you do not call me names or speak harshly to me. Some things people are not ready to learn or experience. It simply is not their time.

    John 8: 42-59
    42 Jesus then said to them, `If God were your father, ye were loving me, for I came forth from God, and am come; for neither have I come of myself, but He sent me;

    43 wherefore do ye not know my speech? because ye are not able to hear my word.

    44 `Ye are of a father -- the devil, and the desires of your father ye will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he hath not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaketh, because he is a liar -- also his father.

    45 `And because I say the truth, ye do not believe me.

    46 Who of you doth convict me of sin? and if I speak truth, wherefore do ye not believe me?

    47 he who is of God, the sayings of God he doth hear; because of this ye do not hear, because of God ye are not.'

    48 The Jews, therefore, answered and said to him, `Do we not say well, that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?'

    49 Jesus answered, `I have not a demon, but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me;

    50 and I do not seek my own glory; there is who is seeking and is judging;

    51 verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may keep my word, death he may not see -- to the age.'

    52 The Jews, therefore, said to him, `Now we have known that thou hast a demon; Abraham did die, and the prophets, and thou dost say, If any one may keep my word, he shall not taste of death -- to the age!

    53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died; whom dost thou make thyself?'

    54 Jesus answered, `If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing; it is my Father who is glorifying me, of whom ye say that He is your God;

    55 and ye have not known Him, and I have known Him, and if I say that I have not known Him, I shall be like you -- speaking falsely; but I have known Him, and His word I keep;

    56 Abraham, your father, was glad that he might see my day; and he saw, and did rejoice.'

    57 The Jews, therefore, said unto him, `Thou art not yet fifty years old, and Abraham hast thou seen?'

    58 Jesus said to them, `Verily, verily, I say to you, Before Abraham's coming -- I am;'

    59 they took up, therefore, stones that they may cast at him, but Jesus hid himself, and went forth out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

    I think we all believe different things which is obvious even on here. Nobody is right or wrong.

    That's not exactly true, but I understand what you're saying. There is a right, and anything that isn't right is wrong, but that isn't something we're going to decide here.

    Yes, there is one right answer and nobody really knows it is what I mean.

    I know what I believe and why. What my enquiring mind wants to know is what others believe and why. If they differ from mine I find that interesting and will do my best to always respect others beliefs.

    This is my understanding of whether or not we understand the bible "rightly". The bible is written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit, so if you are a saved christian, born of the Spirit, then God reveals the Truth of the bible through His Holy Spirit in the saved person.

    Now that is just what I believe. I think the bible is a spiritual text, so it has to be interpreted by the spiritual, not the physical, or authored by the physical.

    That may sound weird, but it is just what I've learned about what the bible says. Here is a very, good writing, and explanation of how I see the bible. Everyone please understand that I am not saying my ideas, or interpretations are correct, it is simply what I think/believe;)

    This is the part I was touching on about reading the bible, understanding I have of it:

    Or it could be we all have the right answer, whatever we believe may be our afterlife. So, everyone will be somewhere different. Atheists will be nowhere but they won't know it.

    This is the problem I have with religion and understanding it. It should be we all believe the same thing as in one God or No God. I've never seen so many different versions and beliefs just within Christians. This bible says this, that bible says that. Maybe there are many Gods, I don't know.

    I don't understand everything about the God of the bible, that's for sure. But He is said to be infinite, and I am finite, so I don't expect to understand all. Jesus said in the bible:

    Luke 12:51-52New King James Version (NKJV)
    51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. 52 For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three.

    What I wanted to add there, but I hit "post" too soon, was that I don't particularly like that it says that he came to separate, I want everyone together too Chrissy. I don't know, and believe NO one knows for sure, until we are dead and in the dirt. But my faith is in Christ, where the rubber meets the road because I don't see anything else that makes more sense.

    I am not doing church, because I don't like the conflict either.

    My bottom line honest answer is...I just don't know. I live a good life and let the chips fall where they may. I did the best I could while alive and when I die that will be it. I will live forever in the hearts of those that loved me.

    That is where I stand, the I don't know especially. What I believe, and what I know for sure, are two, different things. I know that I've heard many people say "they know this" or know that about God, afterlife, but what I feel is true for me, is that I can't know, and can only choose something to believe in, or have faith in.

    One thing I am hoping is that wherever I end up, I get a "younger" version of me, not this old, often, sore bag of bones;)

    Jesus said the Kingdom of God, which would mean everthing, and all the laws are WITHIN us all. I believe Jesus because he said it to be true and no one else. We are not meant to be all the same as robots.
    Some say that death is finite and then they are also saying that there is an afterlife, be it heaven, hell, or what-have-you.
    I can only go by what he says and what my NDE that I had many years ago tells me that it is. Everyone is on therir own path, but they all lead to the same ending. We all are born, raised by our guardians and then we all age and our bodies die....and that is a fact.

    Also, let's say there is a heaven and because you were a believer in the Bible or a certain religion, you die and go to heaven. Your children and grandchildren aren't religious or even atheists so they obviously won't go to heaven.

    That means you won't be reunited with the ones you care about. Isn't it enough to live one life and then die and have it be all there is? Be a good person and leave behind loving memories....that's not such a bad deal.

    If, as I believe, there is an afterlife, it's not a matter of whether we want one or not. Rather, it's a matter of what kind of an afterlife we want. If there is no truth to religion, then there's no reason adhere to one, and if there is truth to it, then it's unlikely that you will be able to make it up in your own head.

    Then I will continue on in the way I'm doing now. There is nothing for me to change. My heart is always in the right place. I'm not perfect by far, make mistakes but always try to do the right thing. If that's not good enough to get me in to heaven then I don't want to be there anyway, that would not be a kind and loving God.

    This is probably what I would call my belief system. I believe this as much as others believe what they believe.

    I have to believe in an after life because I believe that I will see departed loved ones again. I have also felt the presence of those who have departed and I don't think that's my imagination. So, what does someone do in an after life, that is a good question. I tend to think that they live in a place where they are always there to guide those they loved in this life. Just a theory on my part I really have nothing concrete to verify that. I also do believe in reincarnation, and I think individuals can be given a choice or told to go back. Let's face it if someone has committed much sins in their lives they have to go back to try to get it right in another life time. Yes, I don't believe there is a lower place that we are doomed to go to, where we are now is the learning place and if we fail to learn the first time we come back to get it right. Again just my own theory here.
