It seems that we are experiencing a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack, which is explained on this Wikipedia page. I doubt we are the target, in that someone is trying to put this forum down. More likely, the attack is against the network that we're on, or, if no one else is having troubles, anywhere between where I am and where the forum is. It should clear up soon.
So if the DDS is somewhere in the chain of servers between the user and the website (and not the website itself), wouldn't logging out, clearing the browser cache, reconnecting to the site, then logging back in cause you to establish a different path and likely avoid the under-attack server? Or do I not know what I'm talking about? FWIW: I am not experiencing issues.
I was getting a ton of "out of resource" prompts, which is what would happen in a DDOS attack, short of the site being down altogether, and there were thousands of "guests" on the site at the time. I don't know how long it lasted because I gave up and did something else for a while.
I just got a quick Out of Resources messages, but there's no change in performance. 247 total entities on line. 187 Guests, 10 Robots
I just got the message again, with a tiny slowing of responsiveness. 6 Members, 183 Guests, 44 Robots. And I got the message again while typing this comment.
Just got a 508 ERROR Things noticeably slowed down. Now there's only 171 Guests. I wonder if there's an issue with our server.
When I click on an occasional topic or post I am getting *Resource Limit is Reached*? Not every time, but only happening this morning.
