''WHOOPS CUSSING'' ...should have had my glasses on....sorry, my bad ...
I found myself opening this topic this morning because I could not understand how there could be over two pages of posts about cussing. As I read through the posts my heart begin to hurt more and more.
I am a Christian and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. What some of you have said about Him or insinuated about Jesus and Christians is offensive to me as some of your posts have make a mockery of my Lord and my faith.
As a Christian I don't claim to be perfect or sinless. I have used curse words before and I'm sure I will again before I leave this earth. I don't go to Church every Sunday and have my sins forgiven and then start sinning all over during the new week. I sin every day... because just like everyone else I am a human being. The only difference is by asking Jesus Christ to be the Redeemer of my sins....which He shed His blood and gave His life to do for all of us....He has become just that and God my Father does not see my sins anymore, only His perfect Son standing in my sins place. God and Jesus offer this free gift to everyone so I am not special or better than anyone else...I am just saved by the grace of the God I believe in and my Savior who gave His life for my sins.
So please don't disrespect or make a mockery of my Savior or my faith. I try my best to respect all of your beliefs in this area so all I'm asking is the same here.
I know this is not just a Christian Forum....but there are Christians on it who don't think it's funny to read some of the posts that are mocking our beliefs. Thank you.
I wasn't mocking beliefs just stating my truths. My pain dr DID say Jesus Christ 3 times at my first visit with him.
I do sometimes say "Jesus Christ" when I'm upset or angry and there are a lot of Hispanics named Jesus. I knew of a few in my grandson's former HS.
I believe in free speech for All sides.
That said, I try not to offend anyone but it happens.
I was offended when you said Catholics will align with Islam and something about the anti Christ also.
I'm sure it offended the Catholics on the forum.
Although I'm not a practicing Catholic ...it's still a part of me in a way.
My Holy Trinity includes a God who has a sense of humour ... which is obvious 'cos he made me ... be offended by 'pride' which is the original and worst offense to our Lord ... PRIDE isolates Christians more than 'cussing' ever could.
Well, Babs, I believe as you do, but, on the other hand, I think these members have their “forum right” to express how they feel. It may or may not be how you feel, or how you’d talk, but they still have that “right” to speak. I have been told just that by some members over replies I’ve go to Threads I’ve done.
This Thread was not put into the Religeon Forum, So it’s pretty “fair game” in the forum it’s in.
I know, without a doubt, that you don’t like words against your religeon, just as wife and I don’t, but, apparently there are people in this forum that don’t care and will not stop using them just because we are Christians.
Just my opinion.
Good grief... I feel responsible because in my thread I talked about curse words that are over used and at the wrong time. Then Ken posted this thread about cussing.
It appears this cussing issue has gotten out of hand - off the subject and now appears to be causing hurt feelings.
This was not suppose to cause discord among us.
I don't agree with many of you about a lot of things...but I like you anyway. I do try and be careful what I say or post because I do not want to cause hurt feelings to anyone. So how about we apologize to each other for stepping on and off each others toes.....and let this thread lay...dammit...sorry I just had to add that.
I don't curse as much as I did when I was young. It was pointed out to me one time and I realized I didn't notice how much I did curse.. I got to substituting the words Mickey Mouse for curse words and sill to this day most often use mickey mouse. Somebody on this forum has a signature: Lord, deliver me from self righteous people, that sometime might apply to some of us if we are able to apply same to ourselves. Maybe not.
Actually, I don’t see anything for anyone to apologize for. They were all, including me, replying to a thread with their opinions. A lot of times, opinions hurt, but that’s simply “the way it is”.
I didn't post because I was mad at anybody. I just wanted to stand for what I believe too. Sometimes we all get a little carried away in a topic but it is my opinion that sometimes we can go to far....and I think we should be able to say this too. I didn't name any names in my post I didn't want to do that, I just wanted to stand up for what I believe in too.
When I first joined this Forum I came on really strong in my Faith beliefs and I had to learn from many of you that I had to tone it down not to offend any of you. I have really done my best to do that without having to stop being my natural self too. I know this sounds naive but I really didn't understand how we could all have such different beliefs when I first joined SeniorsOnly Club. But I have come to respect our differences and accept that we are all human beings looking for the Truth and finding our own versions of it....and my version of Truth is just as important to me as yours is to you. So I'm just asking that we keep respecting each others truths and faith beliefs whether we are on the faith part of the Forum or any other part. All I can do is ask this and I am.
Actually, Babs, I think this is up to Ken to determine what can and can’t be discussed and how they are discussed.
I don’t think have the right to tell folks how to discuss things. I was told that very thing in one of my Threads where I didn’t really like the responses.
Some would say “you are stepping over the line” by telling others what the can and can’t say.
Actually Cody I only asked...I did not tell anybody they have to do anything.
Yes, Babs, I know. But, to a point, you really do sound like your telling others what to do.
I don’t like cussing and those words used concerning my Lord and my Faith, but there’s really nothing that can be done about it. Just the way the world has been and will continue being.
You have a right to your beliefs Cody but I believe that nothing changes if nothing is asked to change. And sometimes even asking doesn't do any good but for sure nothing will ever change if people don't stand up and ask for it. And Cody, don't tell me what I have to believe and accept just because you think that's the way it is.
Well If I hurt your feelings @Babs Hunt it was totally unintentional, and I apologise but without turning this into any kind of religious debate...even you surely have to admit there's a lot of people who are supposed practising Christians, who do sin all week and expect to go to church, confess, and think they can continue to break the Commandments.. ....that's not to say all Christians are the same, but it's so obvious that many do.. not even the most fervently religious person could deny it...
However, I'm not going to walk around on eggshells on here , in case I hurt someone's feelings unintentionally...
Sorry, Babs. Wasn’t trying to do that....tell you what to accept and believe in.
However, I think Holly is 100% right about not walking on eggshells.
I don’t mean to “offend” either, but there are times it just happens. People cuss and I seriously doubt there is anything that be done about it. The more people complain about it, the more people will say “I’ll do what I want”.
I don't expect you to walk on eggshells Holly or apologize. There are no perfect, sinless Christians on this earth, and some of us probably shouldn't even call ourselves Christians. But many of us Christians do our best to follow Christ's example and not the world's...even so we can't do that perfectly either. We're a work in progress but the only perfect one is our Jesus...who according to the Bible we believe in...wants to be everyone's Jesus. I just wanted to let y'all know that I am a Christian and that I can not just stand back when Jesus our Savior and God our Father is disrespected and mocked. It's not about cussing here...some of these posts were just outright mockery of what is sacred and Holy to Christians. I would hope all Christians would stand up and ask people to please not do that. I'm glad I spoke up and let y'all know some of these posts hurt my heart as a Christian and asked y'all to please consider keeping things respectful. I'm not looking for apologies, etc....only consideration of what I have said and asked.
But everybody believes something different @Babs Hunt. Especially when it comes to religion. Even though I'm not even really a Catholic anymore, Catholicism has been mocked on here a lot, even the pope and to a degree that offends me still.
To you Jesus Christ means everything but to others it's just a name or a figure in history.
Yes I know this Chrissy but if you told me that I had made your heart hurt and why I can absolutely tell you that I would say I was sorry and try never to do that again whether it be here on this Forum or anywhere else. You and I have come a long way with some apologies along the way and some reconsideration for our different beliefs. And now I like to think we are friends with quite a bit in common such as our love for our families and grandkids.
It's right to stand up for what you believe in and ask for people to be respectful of that when you feel they aren't being that way.
All you can do is ask and that's what I did. Nobody owes me an apology and I certainly can't make anyone stop saying anything they want here. But I can ask and I have.
I want to add that I will try and not be offensive because I do like you @Babs Hunt. Peace!
Hey, Ken, let’s hear what you to say about what Babs feels.
Your like the Head of this forum, right.
It's his forum @Cody Fousnaugh.
I think sometimes in our fervor to be right or have the last word we forget there is a person behind the post who feels strongly about something and may be hurt by our words.
I will try not to offend. I'm not perfect though...
I think that this has turned into a good discussion, and no one has been out of line. I paused at the bathtub photo and considered whether I should allow it, because I just don't like things to go there, but decided it wasn't obscene in any actionable way.
This has turned into a good discussion because this is precisely what makes people more aware of how words can effect others. Babs was well within her rights to let us know what she finds objectionable, particularly since she wasn't telling anyone to stop, and I'm glad when someone does that. She was letting us know how it effects her, and I don't know why that would not be worthy of consideration.
My heart hurts when I see or hear of many of the things that people do, but if they are not illegal, there isn't much I can do about it. I have a little more to say about what is posted here in this forum, but I can't say that anyone has crossed the line yet.
Problems occur when someone just doesn't care how anyone else feels, but I don't see that here.
Maybe you aren't perfect Chrissy but I sure have come to love you girl!
You know what...when life throws me a curve ball, or when the time comes for swearing, I say phooey!!! I said the "S" word too, when usually the situation is a surprise! (quietly of course) Or I'd use the "D" word, but never the Lord's name with it; just the "D" word of "DI"! I try to say it as quietly as possible too, I don't know why, but I swear very quietly just over a whisper. We are all human, so when the unpleasant things happen we got to get over it, so we swear, is what I believe so it helps us move on. Though, vulgarity of the other words, is sometimes very difficult to hear, I hear it very rarely here on Oahu where we got all the different nationalities, all the different religions all blossoming at once. Another word I'd use is, darn or darn it! Many are married and their wife or child is in tow with them, too, so it's good for it keeps everyone in a language that's friendlier even when life gives you a little curve ball in public, heaven forbid. By the way, when it's a big curve ball, I'd say "DI" 3x.
