Does anyone here know what to do with a celery root ??? I just bought one and I am not sure what to do with it.. I was going to cube it and steam it and then mash it with butter... Is that what you do ????
I had it a few times many moons ago Steve and remember liking it, I roasted it then I seem to recall. Some ideas here
How about my idea of cubing it, steaming it, mashing it, and adding butter...??? do you think that will be ok ??? how about when it is mashed after steaming, adding an egg, some butter, putting it in a loaf pan and baking it in the oven to make a loaf style.. ??? Will the taste be too strong ???? Should I add some carrots or parsnips with it ??? ..(I don't have potatoes)...
Yes it should be fine Steve I seem to recall having as a mash with carrots and the taste was good, not too strong.
Thanks Terry.. I will be trying that method except I will steam the cubes first instead of cooking them in milk..
I will be interested to hear how it turns out Steve, and what you think of the taste, I might try it myself as it's a long time since I last cooked some.
I made the celery root for supper tonight.. I peeled it, cubed it, steamed it, added butter and mashed it.. It wasn't bad but it was extremely rich.. I don't think I will ever buy that veggie again..
