    Probably the most lesser-known destination over here is AVI. My wife managed to save a video the Casino Host made using a drone he owns. He had posted it on the local Laughlin Buzz. Most beautiful and clear views I've seen in awhile, beats our cheapie digital cam! It is owned and operated by the Fort Mohave Indian Tribe, and is in our book, the best-run and most appealingly maintained of all the ten here. AVI is located about 10 miles south of the "Strip" where Don Laughlin took the big plunge first 50 years ago this month. AVI is I think 22 years old. Hope I did it right and the vid works! This is the casino close to my house where I won $1,800 on slots. All our casinos are owned by Indian tribes.

    There was a big problem a couple years ago and it closed down the biggest one for while , something to do with
    Indian gangs and there was a shooting in the casino. I think that's why you see all the safety concers listed on this website.

    That looks like a nice place, Frank.

    This is about 45 mins from my house and I see it reopened in Jan. I won $500 there but I always did better at the closer casino.

    Since I don't drink, I didn't know it was alcohol free or maybe those are the new rules after the shooting at the other casino.

    @Frank Sanoica or anyone that knows...unless it's Vegas or Laughlin casinos are illegal unless on water or on land owned by Indian Tribes, right?

    @Chrissy Page
    For some reason unfathomable to me, most states have the "on the water" regulation, supposedly as though gambling is OK on a boat. In Missouri, the entrance to several is disguised to look like a boat ramp, the building actually lying next to the Mississippi River. Casino gambling is legal throughout Nevada, although one place, Boulder City, which was established as a headquarters by the Feds during the construction of Hoover Dam, banned all gambling. That ordinance was lifted sometime in the recent past.

    It's strange here where we are, that the bulk of the population resides in Bullhead City on the Arizona side of the river, while the hotels with their casinos are on the other side, in Laughlin Nevada. A strong effort in recent years was aimed at encouraging hotel employees to reside on the Nevada side, and some thousands of homes and condos were built, as well as apartments. The 2000's recession resulted in an enormous number of them being vacant, foreclosed, short-saled, etc. We considered buying a condo for around $50,000 that had sold new in 2002 for nearly $200,000. The "boom and bust" which accompanies the discovery of gold somewhere, seems to run parallel in the "Gaming Industry". BHC population now stands at about 40,000; it doubled between 2000 and 2010! Laughlin's is about 9,700. It is usual that a major hotel employs over 1,000 people! Thus, with 10 hotels around here, a whole lot of folks need a place to live!

    That resort looks beautiful @Frank Sanoica ! ! The clear and sparkling water just makes me want to be out there swimming around in it; but I really didn't see much of anyone out there swimming. Did the video just not show the swimming beach, or is the water too cold for swimming ?
    The whole resort looks awesome ! It would be wonderful to be able to go there and spend a few days relaxing ; but only if there is swimming, too.

    I don't know about there but in Fresno it's almost too hot to swim in an outside pool in the summer during the day.

    @Yvonne Smith "Did the video just not show the swimming beach, or is the water too cold for swimming ?"

    There is a short time in which the sandy beach area with it's pavilions is shown, a couple of kids can be seen running in the sand. He shot the video likely at mid-week, when the fewest folks are present. The river temperature is not as cold as might be expected, especially this far into summer. On a weekend, every cabana will have be family-occupied. My wife & I went over there this morning for breakfast, and there were about 4 people on the beach, two being in the water.

    @Chrissy Page Pool temps. here are always kept tolerably cool, due to the desert wind, evaporating a lot of water. When the wind ceases for a few consecutive days, the pools DO warm up considerably. AVI's pool is devoid of shadow from any tall buildings or towers, so would likely be warmer than some of the others, such as Edgewater, or Colorado Belle, where their pools are in the center of a large area surrounded by towers with rooms. I've often wondered if they built that way to avoid hot pools in summer. Much easier to heat cold ones ion winter, which they do, than cool hot ones in summer, which I think they do not do.

    There is no wind in Fresno. Almost every other house has a pool but I never hear anybody even outside during the day Maybe in May and September the pools might get more use during the day.

    @Chrissy Page Is it true there is a moratorium denying permitting of new pool construction? Residential pool heaters were a no-no during the aftermath of the Arab Oil Embargos in the early '70s. Frank

    I haven't heard of that, my neighbor had a pool put in a couple years ago

    I don't think you need pool heaters here...maybe in April.
