You’d think I’d be used to this after eight years, but I’m not. It doesn’t hurt any less than it did eight years ago. Anyone else alone on Christmas? Let’s check in here and keep each other company.

I am not totally alone over Christmas in that my working son has his own apartment downstairs and we usually have our evening meal together however apart from the hour or so at that time I spend the rest of the time alone. This does not bother me much during the summer months as there is always something to do and fill my time in my 30 acre managed forest but the winter months sure drag, the xmas period no more or less than any other time when snow clearing is the only outside activity.

I've been single my entire life except for a couple of years in the 70s, and used to spend Christmas with a younger brother and his family. Even after I moved I'd usually (but not always) drive the 2 hours to his place. He passed away in 2019.

The church I used to go to did not have Christmas Day or Christmas Eve services, so I've often gone to a random "Everyone Is Welcome" church for those events, partly to not be alone.

There are those don't have a spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend that think that Christmas, New Years Eve and Valentines Day are lonely, when no family is around to visit with.

However, none of those days bothers my BIL (wife's younger brother). Then again, for "Loners" like he is, he doesn't want or need anyone around.

We do not have anything happening for Christmas; so it is going to be like an “every day” for us, this year. Last year, Robin was home for Christmas, but it is not looking like she will be able to come home this year, and my son and DIL do not celebrate Christmas because of her religious beliefs.

    Yup. Gotta love the internet.

The one thing I like about Christmas is that when you wake up, the silence is deafening. It truly is as though the whole world has stopped.

Be patient. You will get to appreciate it after a while. You will actually have "Peace on earth". Think about it.

Thank you for the kind words,
Unfortunately, this is the kind of pain that will never leave me unless I someday answer my doorbell and a certain person or persons is standing there.

With 5 children 4 and under and and a bunch of teenagers, it won't be the silence that is deafening here:)
