I came across this link in my news feeds today http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-...-partner-enough-for-you/9034330?sf124953819=1 And OMG how can anyone even consider having a polygamous relationship? what ever happened to the old fashioned monogamous relationships? are people not faithful anymore? what about the venereal diseases that get transferred from one partner to the next? I'm a firm believer in staying faithful to my husband. I'm also a firm believer that if a person wants to have several sexual relationships and or affairs then don't get married nor have a girl friend or boy friend. Just don't hurt others in your demented sexual games. What are everyone else's views?

This is nothing new. But seldom discussed openly for obvious reasons. Personally I see no point of marrying someone who is suppose to be your soul mate....then just go about bed hopping.. I have know people who do participate and many divorced because of thier involvment.

Gloria, Personally I just can't get my head around why people do this kind of thing in the first place. I guess I'm just old fashioned and my upbringing plays a big part in it too. As i was brought up very strict catholic.

When you make a vow in marriage to become one with someone...then there is no room for number two or three in that oneness of the marriage bed. That's my opinion.

Different people though have different definitions of what marriage is and means. Even in the Bible Kings had the right to have "concubines" or what I call mistresses. Yet the Queen would have been killed if she had taken a lover. And those whose wife were barren slept with their wives servants to have a child that was then considered the child of the wife and not the servant. In the Old Testament it seems sleeping with others was allowed for the husband....but not the wife. Maybe it had something to do with populating the earth.

It wasn't until the New Testament that Jesus defined marriage as being one man and one woman till death parts you. I don't understand all the reasoning behind the Old Testament's allowance of sleeping with others and the New Testament's shutting that down. But in my heart I believe if you marry someone you should have oneness only with your husband.

Want to play the field? Go for it. Just don't get married.

I don't get it myself. I think years ago when people lived in tribes, I have read that if a woman lost her male partner, she may live with another man even if he already had a wife figure. I guess this made sense and part of it was safety. But that's not the world we live in today so to me it doesn't make sense.

I only want to live with the cats. Is it wrong to have more than one? :D

Over the years I have known many hedonistic couples who have espoused the open relationship. Without fail in each case it has led to disaster, one way or another.

I have found that with few exceptions such as polygrip, anything starting with "poly" should not be something one should consider as being healthy.
