Hello everyone - my name is Julie and I'm a 58 year-old Brit who has lived in France for the last 16 years. I'm delighted to have found this forum - what a range of topics to chat about. And I do like to chat! I live in north-eastern France in the Marne Department of the Champagne-Ardenne Region. I was made redundant from my language teaching and interpretation work. Well, it was kind of voluntary and on medical grounds - I kept losing my voice. So I was pretty useless in both roles which required me to speak a lot. There's nothing seriously wrong with my throat - the doctor says that after 35 years of teaching and interpreting my vocal chords are just a wee bit over-wrought. So I spend a lot more time on the internet researching and writing - and save my voice for a good old chin-wag with friends in the café.
Bonjour Julie, From rural Herts/North London borders .... and a big welcome to the forum..glad to have you here.
Welcome to the forum, @Julie Stewart ! I am sure with your writing skills, you will have some great stories to share with us, and we all love stories. I am looking forward to hearing more about the part of France where you live, and some pictures maybe. The closest that i have ever come to seeing France is watching the movie, "French Kiss" with Megan Ryan; so I have a lot to learn. I am an Idaho transplant, now living in Alabama and a country girl at heart, even though we are now living in the city, and probably will stay here. We have people here from countries all over, so there is usually someone around who would be in a similar time zone as you are , to talk with. I am pretty sure that you are the first one from France though. Glad to have you !

The people, as you can see, are very nice and welcoming, and I'm sure you'll fit right in and feel at home. I'm looking forward to reading your stories and seeing any pictures you post.
Welcome @Julie Stewart , I hope you like it like our little forum, and I'm looking forward to learning more about you and your chosen country.
