The only notable one was organic chemistry, because it was the hardest course I ever took. .Three quarters of it. Grades: . A, C, D. And the D was a gift, imo. . .
I will have to admit to failing chemistry twice in college, but then I'll have to also admit I probably didn't try as hard as I should have. The big problem (other than the fact than I skipped too many classes...LOL) was that I didn't take chemistry in high school and college chemistry didn't make any allowance for beginners. I did fine in biology.
We had a great teacher in H.S. I took the whole year of intro chemistry in college in an intensive 10 week summer course, and never learned anything new. This gave me false confidence that I could do organic, in spite of warnings. Nothing like regular chemistry. In lab you usually had to make some compound, put it in a bottle, hand it in, and you got graded on quantity and purity. One time on the last step, which was heating to remove impurities, what I had just disappeared. Evaporated into thin air. I had nothing to hand in. The whole course went pretty much the same way.
Yeah, in Organic, you have to be able to picture the structures in 3-dimensions. That is much different than in Analytic or other forms of Chemistry.
Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, Calculus, and a few electives that were not essential for my BSEE degree, such as Astronomy. (Cal State Long Beach, 1960) Alpha Gamma Sigma membership conferred for never falling below a "B" in any course. Hal
Only chemistry and biology. I really loved biology but had to stay after class and wash test tubes to pass chem.
When I went through high school I wanted to be a theoretical physicist or a bio-chemist (big stretch) and passed all the required courses for each curriculum. But, life took some turns and I did whatever I did. I do still take some free on-line courses and enjoy the YouTube lectures from MIT but that’s about it except: The chemistry, biology and psychology course I have been enjoying with my wife for the last 18 or so years. I think that thus far, we have both merited a more than passing grade.
I only took the required courses in high school. Science is one of those classes that either you like it or you don't. I didn't.
My high school offered three programs----General----Commercial----College Prep----College Prep required Science courses
