I noticed the restaurant review section here and it made me think of a place in Santa Cruz that opened in an old Fosters Freeze type place that had shut down. It was a vegetarian burger place named McDharma's. It was a little hole in the wall. The burgers were big, really good and the place was friendly. Years later I went to Santa Cruz and this place had moved to a much bigger location and was now call Dharma's. It was horrible. Pretentious and unfriendly. The food wasn't much either. Pretentious and unfriendly can pretty much describe Santa Cruz. Don't jump me about talking sh** about Santa Cruz. It's my home town and I can! Anyone else remember favorite places that changed and weren't as good or the same anymore? I think it happens a lot.
Although I haven't been to one in ages I think Applebees has gone downhill a lot. It used to be okay but tha last time I was there it was terrible....slow service and lousy food. I think In-N- Out is also not so great anymore...still love it but it's not what it was.
I also am not impressed with The Cheesecake Factory. Takes forever to get a seat, to be waited on and to get your food and then it's nothing great.
Well Piccadilly Cafeteria to me is not as good as it used to be since they were bought out. Even though they are supposed to be using the same recipes...quite a few things don't taste the same anymore.
@Babs Hunt It seems that places may be sold and then things are not the same. Same recipes are probably not true. I also remember another place in Santa Cruz. Another hole in the wall. Really small Mexican place that appeared to be a family. Huge portions and really good. Don't know if that place is still around. That was also early 80's.
