When did the forum change?

I admit I had been away for some time, [didn't realize how long] but looking around, I noticed reference to the 'new' forum, and became curious. Also I noticed the SOC-2. I do remember when it was [closed] ? About the time, the [other] one banned me , [said I mentioned politics] I didn't, but that was the preception.

Anyway, I tried to log on, and the site did not recognize me , so I re-registered and well ....... here I am.

When the old SOC crashed because of the irreparable server issues, it was gone until last December, when Ken was able to start over with new servers, and basically a whole new forum, but with the same name.
This is why you were not able to sign in, and had to register again.
We all had to register again. However, we used our same names as before.
If you message @Ken Anderson and let him know what name you used before, he can update it for you on your profile, so we will all know who you were on the first forum.

We have other people here who are either still part of the (other) forum, or are refugees (like you); and many of the names here should look familiar to you.
What name did you use when you registered with SOC before , @Buck ?
I don’t remember anyone with the name Buck, but you would have had a first/last name back then, so that might help if you can let us know what it was ?

Without mentioning any names, I had a similar experience on a forum I went to last year. I posted this picture and got a temporary ban. While I was laughing at the absurdity of that, I said goodbye to that forum. I mean it would have been different if I modified the image, but I didn't. And the there were more Republicans on that forums than anyone else.

Well actually I believe on the old forum, I was known as RP, if that is OK ? I'd just as soon use that .

You would not have been known as RP because that is just initials. We all use a regular name here, with a first/last name. You might have used a name with those initials, but if you were a member here before, you had some kind of a name that looked like a real name.
As Ken said, you do not have to use the same name as before, but then no one will know who you were in the first life of this forum.

Well then, I'm going to have to think about that as I just do not remember .

I was never told I was mis-behaving, so I guess I was always welcomed , jut can't remember the name I used.

Maybe try going to the introductions thread in the Chit-chat section, and write an intro with some information about yourself, @Buck. Maybe it will come back to you what your name here used to be, or maybe some of us will remember your former identity here once you tell us where you are from and more about what you like and stuff like that.
