What YouTube (or alternative) Podcasts do you Subscribe to?

I'll be posting the podcasts I subscribe to in the order they are currently listed on YouTube, not necessarily in the order I like them best. Keep in mind that I don't necessarily agree with all of these podcasters, and I might unsubscribe from some of them next week, but I don't want to be anal about this. Some of them are just easy to listen to while I am working, but not watching. I think you'll find that I'm not as political as you might think. Feel free to post your own. I don't imagine most of you will want to take the time to post everything you're subscribed to, or even want us to know everything you're subscribed to, so you can just post your favorites. Don't just post random podcasts you're watching right now; we already have a thread for that. However, going through your subscription list from time to time is a good idea; you might find you've been involuntarily unsubscribed from some, as well as others that you're still subscribed to, although they no longer show up in your feed. YouTube does that sometimes, I think, because they want to discourage some podcasts while encouraging others, but what do I know - I'm just one of those nutty conspiracists.

Did you go to each one and then post a link of what you are subscribed to, @Ken Anderson ? I have the list of subscriptions, but I am not sure how to copy and paste them here unless I go to each one and link a video, and I am pretty sure you did something easier than that.

Yes, I did. No, not any easier than that. I was only going to do five at a time so that it wouldn't take so long at one chunk, but YouTube keeps rearranging them, so that wouldn't have worked.

I don’t subscribe to any podcasts., but that doesn’t mean I won’t listen to a segment until I learn what I want or they say “click here to subscribe”.

Not all but a lot of those podcasts are Influencer types, which essentially boils down to someone who is making money off their own opinion, and we all know what opinions are —- everybody has one of those too.

I am subscribed to about 10 YouTube channels, some of them are from my family, but I don’t listen to every video they put out. It gives my YouTube direction as to what kinds of videos I am interested in, like plants and gardening.

Not that it matters, but there is a difference between podcasts and regular Youtube content channels. I decided to read up on it, and apparently podcasts were strictly RSS audio feeds until fairly recently when podcasters decided to put themselves on youtube for extra "views." More pointless terminology for me to keep up with.

Maybe that’s what I do — listen to regular YouTube content channels. I dunno. I know that, except for uploading my own videos to my YouTube account for posterity and for horse education purposes on the forum, I have almost no interest in YouTube and zero interest in podcast Influencers.

You can call them channels if you want, but most people associate channels with television.
Everyone calls them channels, even Youtube. When I set up a video, youtube calls it "Your Channel."

Podcasts were originally RSS Audio feeds that people listen to while jogging, driving, etc. I have never listed to a podcast in that sense. I was not aware that podcasters had invaded Youtube until you mentioned it, but there is a distinction between Youtube content creators and podcasters, though the line appears to be blurring.

To add to what Beth said, podcast started out as audio only and as an online talk show that was recorded so you could download it to your personal device. You could do your own personal talk show, just online rather than on air. Both are an audio broadcast. POD stands for Play On Demand.

The idea was anyone could make an audio recording of what they wanted to talk about and you could listen to it live or record it for a later time. The host made and posted their own recording, so it could also be accessed at the listeners convenience and/or downloaded to the listeners device.

It is recent that these talk shows have become more popular as videos and I seldom watch because I find them poorly done and taking away the element of imagination used in just audio. I hate it when something has a distinct meaning that everyone understands, but then instead of getting a new term to describe the new way of use, they profit off the already popular term.

So, to be correct, we now have to say, audio podcast or video podcast. If someone says I am starting a podcast, I think of that as an audio only show. Anyone making a video doing anything, could technically call it a podcast. YouTube is not a podcast, but rather a video platform. I don't think of the many that make weekly videos of their lives, as being podcasters. Since there were never any rules set forth to qualify as a podcaster, then a podcaster is what ever anyone wants it to be. For me it is like an AM radio talk show being the real talk show, and TV talk shows for those without imagination. An audio only show, is just talk, where a video show is more show and tell.

First we lose the old AM radio talk shows to TV and now the modern online audio talk show, the podcast, to video. Videos are a great thing, but the mind expanding quality, and imagination provoking, of just audio will never be replaced.

An example is like typing up a story here on SOC. It takes some skilled writing to paint the picture you want the reader to visualize. Now the same thing could be done with a few words and a photo or even more loved by the lazy reader, a video where nothing is left to the imagination.

I fear the art of writing and talking through audio, whether online or radio frequency, is being lost and people minds don't have to think and create, just watch and listen and be easier influenced by the content. Videos are the number one dupers and tool for young people that sit in their bedrooms in PJ's and make money calling themselves influencers. Most don't know :poop: about Shineola.

Youtube calls them channels. Channels is a term used in both radio and TV. With online "channels" there is a link instead of a frequency. One old late at night, talk show on AM radio, used to say, this is KOMA your clear channel radio. They were simplifying saying that no one else had that frequency assigned by the FCC and any lower powered station near by were drowned out by their 50K watts.

On Youtube one can name their channel making it easier to find than using a link. You could have one called Kens Kittens.
