What Are You Doing Today?

My goal today is to concentrate on my computer that my son bought me for my birthday. It's stuck in a loop of the recovery mode. It's been sitting dormant for months because I ran out of solutions to try. So far I've gotten a work area set up. I have to bring the extra monitor, keyboard and mouse upstairs from the basement and then just look at it.
Did we miss your birthday, Von? Happy belated! ❤️ 💐 🎂 And good luck with the computer setup.

Today is a big deal. The entire family is gathering to honor my wife unbeknownst to her. She thinks she is going out for a girl's night. Hopefully everybody will get here okay. Son from Omaha arrived last night (staying at his brother's). Daughters and some grands are coming this morning and gathering there as well.

Today, I have been re-knitting the toes in Bobby’s socks. I made them for him quite a few years ago, and the whole bottom is getting worn out, so this will be the last time I can mend them, I think.
We went to UPS to return that car battery he bought from Amazon, and they sent the wrong one. On the way home, we were right behind a car with a Christmas tree on the top !
Not kidding !
I have no idea WHY anyone would have a real Christmas tree tied on the top of their car this long after Christmas. It was defnintely sawed off at the bottom, so not something that anyone could take home for landscaping, and it didn’t look like it had ever even been decorated. Maybe they have had it on the top of their car since before Christmas ?
Who knows…….. anyway, it is our Mystery of the Day for today.

They might have been taking it to a deposit site. When I lived in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, South Padre Island was always asking for old Christmas trees (with all of the decorations removed) in order to stabilize the sand dunes on the island.

Today, I spent maybe 45 minutes cleaning out a clogged vacuum cleaner which was long overdue along with washing the filters. Before I tackled that, I put in a load of laundry. I finished crocheting a hat that I started yesterday while I watched 'In the Name of the King' with Burt Reynolds and Jason Statham (2008).

It's time for me to do the same with our vacuum cleaner.

It was a busy day today !
Bobby was up ahead of me, but I got up around 4AM and put the 2 watches on to start my hours for the day, then, at 5, I did my 2 BP measurements for the morning task. No coffee since I can’t have that before the BP measurements, and I have to fast before the lab work, so no coffee afterwards, either.

I went back to sleep.
Around 10, we went to the Animal Control office and got the voucher to have Mommy Kitty spayed, and then went to Kroger for our regular Tuesday shopping.
After that, we went to get the lab work done.

At Kroger, we were going to get fuel, since we had the 30 cents per gallon discount (fuel points), and a nice lady there offered to buy our fuel and fill the tank !
She had spent enough at Kroger that she was only paying 9 cents a gallon and she filled our tank for about a dollar, which was pretty awesome, and we thanked her.

We haven’t been out for breakfast since last summer, so Bobby took us to IHOP for breakfast after that, and now we are back home again, with everything important accomplished.
