What Are You Doing Today?

The only new attachment I bought was a landscape rake to maintain the gravel right-of-way (everything else was from Craigslist.) Not long after that I found a used box blade, and discovered I have no need for that high-dollar landscape rake I bought.
I find it handy to "de-rock" the driveway. Every winter, just like the garden, large rocks are pushed up from under the ground as it thaws or from the freeze itself, and I have found the rake to be better than either blade at pushing the large rocks and boulders off the drive every spring. You probably don't have that as the ground doesn't freeze 10-15 feet down like ours does.

Don't know where else to put this, but got sad news a few minutes ago. I'm the youngest of 3 "boys", and my middle brother passed away last night al a little before midnight. He was 82 and had been in declining health for a few months. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, and by his 3 children and innumerable grand kids and great grands. He and I had talked together at least once a week for the past few years. I can't describe the sense of loss.

His wishes were to be cremated with no service of any kind.

I'm sorry to hear this, Hoot. I've lost an older brother and a younger brother. The loss of the younger brother really hurt.

I'm so sorry about that, @Hoot Crawford. Having recently lost one of my brothers (3 years older than myself), and my younger brother a few years before that, I know how you feel, or at least as closely as anyone can.

We returned home last night after evacuating from the fires which were 3 mi from us. The high winds have caused our small fire dept much grief. Fire fighters have fought the fires 4 days in a row. Many states have cam in to help out, Had to stop the plane water bombs as winds were too high.SW Kansas is in dire need of rain, but continues to move east and northeast .
So today will try and get these tidied up around here.

Just waiting for the plumber to show up. He's supposed to be here "between 10-1". Odds are that at about 1:15, we'll get a call saying he'll now be here between 2-5. 5 o'clock will come and we'll never get another phone call and when we call the office, all we'll get is an answering machine.

I am quite willing to be pleasantly surprised. Hope springs eternal...... If he shows up any time today, I'll be happy.

Don't start 'acting' your age Kate, it will become a reality.
