The Urgency of Finding a Bathroom

I am sure that not all of you are experiencing this, but I strongly believe that I am not alone in it. While I used to be able to drive another hundred miles if I had to after feeling the urge to use a bathroom. However, now it seems to require the very next exit with a gas station or fast food place with a bathroom and, even then, once we pull into a parking space, I am ready to go and making it into the bathroom in time can itself be problematic. I'm not to the point where I need Depends yet, but I can't wait for a more convenient stop. Even at home, if I am working in the backyard when I feel the need to use the bathroom, I need to head for the bathroom without delay.

Yes, same here.
When I think I need to go, I start heading for the nearest bathroom. Even my dreams seem to have gotten that idea, and do their best to wake me up.
If I start dreaming about a bathroom, it will always be full of people , and usually lots of men that won’t leave even if I tell them this is the Ladies Restroom.
If I finally do get to a toilet, it will be broken in pieces, or just gone and a big hole in the floor, snakes crawling around, or some other reason why it is impossible to use the bathroom, and this generally wakes me up , and I make a trip to the real bathroom.

On the other hand, in most of my dreams, there are at least two sets of washing machines and dryers, one upstairs and one in the basement, or some other place in the house, and sometimes almost a whole laundromat.
I have no clue what my dreams seem to be trying to tell me about this.……

I would suggest getting a travel urinal to keep in the car. They are adaptable for both male and female, but of course the male version is easier to use. Just make certain you are traveling with people you are comfortable using a urinal in front of unless you have a van or some large vehicle. When we had a full=size van and four young children, we actually carried a regular Porta-Potti in the back.

In my car, I carry a pack of Dude Wipes because we have a lot of trees in Maine. Of course, that doesn't help much when you're in a large city or along a turnpike.

My husband, venturing on his mid 60's now, notices a considerable decline in his ability to hold his bladder, and how the urge to go happens more frequently.

I attribute such decline to our internal workings losing elasticity and in general, simply becoming weaker with age.

Well sir I can ya, we all got some bathroom issues. Taking diuretics do not help. Then as a female with a somewhat fallen bladder it can get worse. I do not have to wear anything um heavy duty yet, but do have times where I can not get there quick enough. Unfortunately my digestive issues are sometimes a bigger issue. My hubby who just turned 71 is having issue on making it on time now.

I think it happens to many more people than will admit to it. I know that, at my age, knowing where the ladies' room is located is a lot more important than determining which store has the best shoe sale at the mall.

My van has a potty so no stops.

I'll admit to doing something questionable, since the statute of limitations has passed.

I was visiting a friend in the DC area and got stuck in Friday afternoon Beltway traffic. I really had to pee. So I pulled on to the shoulder, got out of the truck, walked to the passenger side, opened the door (to block the view), got out a folding map, spread it out on the hood as though I were viewing it, and, uh, you know.

The urinal idea was for emergencies like that @John Brunner or for driving in remote places where there could be extended stoppages with no facilities around. They make several kinds of emergency urinals.

These have the absorbents in them that allows you to use them and "zip" them up to be disposed of at the next trash receptacle as the liquid becomes a think gel.

These are simply collapsible bottles that can be reused after they are emptied and rinsed or washed.

Either can be kept handy in the car, but the pouches can be kept in a door pocket more easily.

Open both doors and you can squat in between them and take care of business without anybody seeing you. ;)☺️
