The Coffee Thread!

I am just messaging Ken, and he is waking up to nothing better than the hotel coffee, and that reminded me that he always was trying new brands of coffee and new coffeemakers; so here i am starting our very first new coffee thread.
We are still pretty basic with our coffee, Bobby likes the McCafe Columbian, and I like a light roast breakfast blend. We each have a coffee maker because I also enjoy flavored coffee and do not want to “contaminate” Bobby’s coffee pot with my flavored coffee.

I am still drinking Black Rifle coffee, and have never gotten anything from them that I didn't like. I get one bag of decaf and another bag of whatever they want to send me each month, although I have suspended my orders for the time being because I don't drink a lot of coffee in the summer and I was getting too much of a backlog. I drink my coffee black, but I don't like my coffee particularly strong. However, that's something I can accomplish with any type of coffee. I just user fewer grounds when brewing the dark roasts.

We are pretty much in a rut with the Keurig machine and k-cups these days. I haven't bought coffee beans in at least a year, and I seldom buy ground coffee anymore either. Our old standby k-cups are the McCafe French Roast and Costco Kirkland French Roast.

I keep the Bunn coffeemaker plugged in and water topped off. I run a pot of hot water through it once a week to keep the tank from getting stagnant, but it's been a long while since I made a pot of coffee.

We are currently drinking McCafe Breakfast Blend (light roast). We switched to light roast because my husband started to get a little indigestion from drinking coffee. I usually polish the rest of the coffee pot off every morning and then maybe make another cup mid morning. I like the Colombian coffee but I won't buy it just for myself.

I like the McCafe breakfast blend, too; but pretty much any light roast coffee works for me, since I add cream or milk to it. I used to like the dark roast, even French roast, but now it is just too bitter for my taste.
I only drink usually one cup with maybe a refill in the morning, and in the afternoon, I have been making a cup of Tetley English Breakfast tea.
Bobby has the coffeemaker that will make either a pot or a cup, and he makes a large pot in the morning, which I often share, and after that , he makes his a cup at a time as he wants it, too.

Marie, it is a real problem and one of my cardiologists tries to make me feel better by calling it A-Flutter, which it really is. A true A-Fib is a dramatic and drastic situation, and often fatal.

I will see if my change in meds helps.

I hope the meds will work soon, I'm hoping they work as good for you as they did for my cousin, she is ok except for some kind of infection she picked up, nothing to do with her heart though.

Our son and DIL gave us a "mixed bag" gift with all kinds of stuff for Christmas, including restaurant gift cards (my favorite) and 3 boxes of coffee. One is a Black Rifle roast and the others are local coffee roasters. I can't remember the names and I'm not going to walk downstairs to see, but I will be trying them out soon.

@Marie Mallory -- I had a Folgers k-cup at a friend's house and it was very good. It's been a long while since I had Folgers but I will be buying some.

One of the neighbors has some Starbucks coffee that she didn’t want, and she gave it to us to try. It is a Pike Place blend, which said it has notes of chocolate and praline. It is a decaf, which is maybe why she didn’t want it, but I thought it would work for me if I have coffee later in the day.
It has been a long time since I have had Starbucks coffee, and the flavor is a lot stronger than I remembered it being. My first cup was too strong for me, but the next cup I used less coffee and it was better. I think I just have to get used to the Starbucks deeper flavor again.

0330 isn’t the time to examine what kind of coffee I drink. I just want black coffee w/ no foo-foo.

After my 2nd cup and my taste buds decide to join the biological and psychological party the first two cups started, as Yvonne previously stated, I do enjoy the McCafe Columbian medium roast (w/ a cocoa blend) coffee.

Now, what really sold me on the McCafe? Obviously I like the taste particularly after the third or forth cup, but the smell of a freshly opened can is unlike any other coffee I have tried.
I pull the foil off the top of the can and wow ! Smelling the grounds after re-opening the can every morning is good but when it’s time to open that new one is almost a phenomenal experience.
About once every three weeks or so, poof and I’m happy. ( I’m old and it doesn’t take a whole lot to make me happy)

Beth, maybe it's because I'm used to it but I like the taste of Folgers perked coffee. I use a stainless steel one cut strainer. I drink 2 sometimes 3 cups.

I think that perked coffee is the best, too, @Marie Mallory ! We used to have a percolator, but i think it quit working and we don’t have it anymore.
We do have one that can work on the stove, but it took forever to perk; so it has barely ever been used. I really like the ones that are glass on the sides, like some of the old percolators used to be, and you can see the coffee percolating.
With this cold weather, I am drinking more coffee, too, and Bobby has been making a whole pot twice a day instead of just in the early morning.

I am having mine with the acacia, cocoa, and mushroom powder mixture, and it is always really satisfying to me. In the morning, I just have a plain cup of coffee with cream, but in the afternoon, I add all of the healthy goodies to it.
