We sent these to one of our daughters and Maries friend.

I'm impressed with the solar house number that I just got. It looks real nice out here in the middle of nowhere. I'm curious as to how long it's gonna hold up. I've read of some guys who have installed the individual solar landscape lights and they've not help up over time and wondered if it might not be more permanent to do a "real" panel with a battery & charger, then install higher-end lighting units that tie into the central power supply.

I have a gun and a pencil iron, but the pencil just has one of those cheap stamped stands. I was doing some work on an extension cord that got trashed outside a couple of weeks ago and could have used this. I also bought some 3/8" heat-shrink tubing.

You ever use a solder sucker (Solda Pull It?) I got one I've had for years.
My solder sucker is a spring loaded one that is a lot easier to use than the old one with the hand squeeze suction bulb. Heat shrink is a wonderful thing for insulating splices.

And overpriced. I have several pairs of "Orthofeet" shoes & sandals that are less than half the price & better quality. They are made in China, Vietnam & Mexico. That doesn't matter to me. I'm often surprised that people are willing to pay double price for inferior quality just to buy "American Made." That applies to cars & all products.
My brother used to be a big fan of "Buy American." He often criticized me for buying a Toyota Camry while praising his new Jeep Cherokee. But he abruptly stopped after his fourth transmission replacement. He bought a Toyota Land Cruiser & never said another word about buying American.
I bought one pair of shoes from SAS several years ago. I stepped in a one-inch puddle & my feet were soaked. And they stretched out & no longer fit after one month.

But the Camry has been built in the USA for several years. :D To me, "buy American" is purchasing goods that provide American jobs, and my Honda was built in Alabama. Apparently the Land Cruiser is still built in Japan, though. There are a couple of "American" cars that are built in China (Lincoln Nautilus and Buick Envision). And of course a Chinese company owns Volvo.

I try to buy American made goods as much as I can. I'm usually willing to pay the premium though sometimes it gives me pause.

I buy American-made whenever it makes sense to do so. I won't buy something that is much more expensive just because it's made in the U.S.A., unless I have reason to believe that the quality justifies the price, and I am well aware that Americans are capable of producing junk, too. Still, "Made in the U.S.A." is a legitimate selling point, as far as I am concerned. When it comes to cars, I think a lot of people don't realize that a lot of foreign-owned auto companies produce cars in the United States, just as U.S. auto companies outsource their production to foreign countries. At one time, more Toyotas were produced in the United States than Fords or Chevrolets.
