I just heard that on TV. Very sad day; Dolly was a gift.
Dolly Parton helped give a lot of other singers their start, too.

Just read that Dolly Parton has passed away. She was 80. There was no information about the cause of death.

While I may be sad at the passing of some famous people, I never shed tears….. I did this time
Dolly was a phenomenal gift to the world for many reasons. Her philanthropic work is at the top of my list. Giving any member of her huge family a job if they wanted one, just a few steps behind. Her musical legacy certainly stands tall for many reasons.
Regular programming has been pre-empted on WSMV to honor her.
God speed Dolly. It is indeed a sad day in Tennessee and the rest of the world

Oh no! She will be dearly missed.
She is one of the few entertainers who one could be confident in saying was genuinely a good person.

President Trump on Tuesday afternoon said on social media that Parton's death "is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you."

I did shed tears. I suspected early on something was wrong. Oh she will be very missed.
She is the only female who could pull off dressing 'trashy " sing like bird, and have the soul an demeanor of an angel.

In every sense of the word, she was a lady.
As far back as I can remember, I have never heard anything negative about her in the news.
She had a private life and a stage life and didn’t confuse the two at any time that I know of.
One of the last things I saw her do (YouTube) was to tell an interviewer that she was an entertainer, not a politician. If folks want to hear a politician then they need to listen to a politician. Her political views were private and again, I do not recall her ever telling her public how to vote.
It’s like that country and western song asked: “Who’s gonna fill her shoes?”.
I don’t think anyone can.

When we heard about her death on CNN, we both shed tears as well. She was indeed a GREAT singer, plus. As for her health, she was in pretty bad shape. On August 21st, she had been admitted into Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee with kidney and autoimmune issues.
This is what was stated online this AM: Dolly Parton's team confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that the legendary singer passed away after a private battle with cancer, though a specific type of cancer was not revealed at this time.
It was said "while taking care of her husband, before he died in March 2025, she ignored her own health issues. After his death, her health issues started getting worse."
I read online that she didn't want her fans to worry, so she sort of downplayed her health problems. Apparently, even her family didn't know how bad her health was. Her family was even very surprised when she died. That is what I read yesterday.
RIP, Dolly. Jesus is now taking care of you in Heaven.
