If you are having problems with another member in this forum, if you think someone is being unfair to you, or if you have another problem that you'd like to see fixed, report them to one of our greeters or to me. Do not go to war in the public forums. When you do that, you are the problem. Often, when you do that, you have become a bigger problem than whatever it was that you're ranting about.
Sometimes, you might report a problem, as you see it. Great; that's the right thing to do. But then next time you log in, it doesn't seem to you that the problem has been fixed to your satisfaction, so then you decide that you need to take it to the forum, and proceed to go on a rant in the public forums.
There are a lot of possible realities to what you might perceive as your complaint not being acted upon.
For one thing, while they may not be important to you, I have other things that I do with my life as well. Besides the cats and things around the house, I work 50 hours a week from home. Yes, I'm on the computer, and I am probably logged into the forum in another tab, but, while I haven't brought that up with him, I don't think my boss wants to pay me for dealing with your problem.
I also keep weird hours. For the past few days, I have been going to bed around 5:00 am, so when I get up at noon or 1:00 pm, I might find things already raging in the forum, and I haven't even had a cup of coffee yet.
For another, sometimes we've already acted on your problem or are in the process of trying to decide what to do, or, when it involves a tweak to the software, determining if it's even possible, or how to go about it. I have had someone rant because I ignored her complaint about someone when I had already banned him a few days before that. We don't generally do public hangings here, so you might not be aware of the resolution. In other cases, we might have decided that a private message might suffice, or that a more generic message, that isn't applied to anyone in particular, might fix the problem. It's also possible that we didn't see it as being as much of a problem as you do. Taking it to the forum clarifies the problem because then you become the problem, and we don't want that either.
I will assume that our other greeters also have lives of their own, and their powers to resolve things are more limited than mine under the Admin account. I don't even like logging into the Admin account because I'd rather we simply resolve things like reasonable adults.
Public forum rants are divisive, and in the future, they will be treated as something to possibly be acted upon.
