Yes, and the shiny texture of the pages did nothing in the way of cleaning up ones behind!I don't remember the smell, although I do remember the M. Wards and Sears Robuck catalogs. You had to crinkle that stuff up to use it, now you can forget using it since they made the paper out of some kind of material that won't soften up no matter how much you crinkle it, it could cause injury.
