At first, it came out as the kidnapping of an elderly lady, with no seeming reason for that to happen. There were several ransom messages, but those turned out to be fake, and just people trying to cash in on the situation and get some money from Savannah Guthrie.
Eventually, it became pretty obvious that, no matter what happened, or why, Nancy Guthrie is dead and probably has been dead for most of the time since she disappeared.
This story is no longer the recovery of a terrified hostage who was kidnapped, but now just a search for a body hidden somewhere in the desert; and I think that is why the interest has died down. There is no hope that Nancy might be found alive anymore.
I don’t know if it was a distraction or just something that happened and was headlining the news while they searched for the kidnapped woman. There never seemed to be any reason for someone to kidnap her, especially since no one sent an actual ransom note to try and get money.
We have had around 11-12 missing scientists who are involved with the study of UFO’s, some just disappeared, and some died suddenly, and this should have been much bigger news, but was not.
