Making Life Easier; Mentally and Physically

Today I want Jake to fix up the van so sitting is less painful. I have a small foam bed to lay on behind the driver's seat, and Jake cut a hole in the passenger seat, but it still hurts to sit up for long trips to dotors, stores.
I also have anxiety attacks and have to ride into town which helps just getting away for a while.
What do you have to make thing's better?

Do you do ok in a recliner? If so, remove the passenger seat and install a recliner. It will work as a place to sit or lie back. Maybe changing positions would help while in the van. Also maybe you can find one position that gives the best relief. I knew a couple of old ladies, a few years ago, that bought an old van and installed recliners in the back so they would have a place to nap during their short trips. Such might make a great get away vehicle for y'all.

If it would help maybe you can strategically install grab bars for getting in and out of the van or to change position while you're sitting.

I place chairs around the yard in spots where I will be working so that I'm not far from a chair if I should get tired or in a lot of pain. Sometimes all I need is 5 or 10 minutes of sitting and I'm ready to start again on whatever I'm working on.

Faye, both front seats recline all the way down, factory installed in 1995. Jake is making a little platform for my legs to stretch out when sitting.
We also have a high potty, 'no squatting' with seat when needed. I don't like public restrooms, so we've always had a potty in the van.

Tony, Jake put grab bars at slide side door and front door,

@Marie Mallory - my heating pad, an ice pack, and my cane always help me out. Oh and my recliner for sure!
Riding is hard even more so when in pain. Least we can stop and get out and walk around a bit when taking trips.
I have to get out of here now and then, so I need to be set up for riding around or parking.Yesterday I told Jake " get me outta 1here now".

@Marie Mallory Have you considered acupuncture? I think hospice covers it if at an approved clinic. It might give you a longer lasting pain relief.

No more Hospice, last night I couldn't breathe well and called Hospice to see who they recommend for me a x-ray of lungs, they said we don't recommend any ER, but we can send you x-ray van after we call and check to see when. I told I can't wait I can't breathe well enough to wait, just cancel my Hospice for now so I can get the care I need.

There "motto", they advertise is working with you to make you as comfortable as possible in your remaining days; but if you like me, sitting by listening to them, when they called Marie back to see why she wants to op out; they're anything but friendly. Marie told her at least three different times why, and she still kept harassing her; until I got on the phone, and told her "look" lady; she has been thru six months of hell, and the last thing she needs is you aggettating the hell out of her; she said, I'm not aggettating her; I said yes you are; just send the form for her to sign off on. She said I just have to be sure why, and I told her "well" you've done that three times, and now you need to send form; and also pick up the stuff we don't need. She said she will.

As Marie was saying above, the ER doc got mad as hell too, said she should have told Marie just go to any ER, he said I can treat her for anything happening to her, except treat her with chemo, or radiate, trying to cure the cancer; he said you need to get away from them; I'm putting a referral right "now", for a better one for you. The last thing he said to Marie; was my wife and I will be saying prayers for you tonight.

Hospice called again and asked if she could come bring form to sign, to op out Hospice; I told her sure come on she said she would be here in about an hour, she did and again asked Marie why, and we told her the most two reasons, and she asked about who told us that. Told her one of their names and she said she's going to file a complaint against them. We told her that we're not trying to get anyone into trouble, but feel we're better off with the Medicare than hospice at this stage and time. She at first tried talking us into staying to no avail.

So we went back where we were, and I think better off for now, on treatments, as they needed.
