Look Who The Cat Drug In

1980 at the mountain log cabin I build myself. Hard to
believe that was 46 years ago. Time passes to fast.

Never having constructed anything like that, I've often wondered about the openings for the door and/or window. I assume you cut the logs to leave the openings, as opposed to cutting the openings later. The door dimensions would not matter so much if you build it on-site, but I would assume that the windows are ordered to standard dimensions.

I don't know how Faye's cabin was constructed, but most of the log cabins I know about have the windows and door cut after the wall is up. It is simply easier. The vertical log cabins are different. I have noticed that even in stick and plywood construction here, they are cutting the opening after the walls are up and the roof is on.

...and then you frame around the opening?

Yes, I used the cut logs to length method (door and window openings built in), since I had a limited supply of usable logs. Putting up the logs and then cutting the windows and doors, was how I learned in Colorado and Montana, helping others. I cut the trees above my place and skidded them with my 4 wheel drive pickup, by myself, and having a limited selection and various lengths to work with, made the other method impossible without equipment and help. The shorter lengths were also easier for me to handle, once up to window height.

You will also notice I framed with my own rough lumber, sawn by my Alaskan chainsaw mill, and used board and bat under the roof pitch. It was much easier. Chinking the logs with high lime concrete, was a test of patience.

One Oregon female senior, crossed into Washington State last Saturday morning for what could’ve been a normal day enjoying a hospital visit during abnormally windy weather, but in less than an hour, her life would drastically change as the senior would be escorted to a breezy outdoor hallway for releasing farts, during a hospital visit, inside a regional hospital elevator. Here's what we know so far. She was identified once she stopped briskly walking, camouflaging the farts.

I can't find any appropriate thread to post my morning happenings on, so I decided to hide it down here. It is the first beautiful day in many months. Sunny, no wind, and my attitude is so good, I almost can't stand it. I went for my walk with a jacket over my GiGi C fake leather sports bra. I was excited to get home and get on my roof to clean under the eaves, where the patio roof is joined. Lots of pollen and crap that the wasp use to build nest. If I leave the winters deposit, then the wasp build nest, hatch out newbies and the newbies sting me, unaware that their life exist only because of my laziness and old age.

I got up and got it done. It got hot so I took off my jacket and was enjoying the sun, when one of my neighbors, a former biker chick (Gull Wing Tour biker), yelled up at me.

"Hey Faye, did you buy a bike to go with that top?" I replied I hadn't. She then said she wishes she still had their Gull Wing and trailer. "We could go for a girl road trip." She is in her mid sixties and apparently entering the regret stage.

So after I finish my snack, I am out to put my big lawnmower on its side and remove the bottom plate and replace the drive belt. The hard part is sitting or kneeling down to do it. I gave away my ramps, when I sold my pickup, so no getting it higher for easy of repair. I would have it done, but the lawnmower guy, another neighbor, said at least $150. I thanked him and waited till I was out of hearing range before I muttered, "You can smooch my patoot."

The mower is fixed. While a new belt and blade would improve performance, the problem was an idler wheel on the clutch, that had unidentifiable junk (possibly plastic) wrapped around it, and was almost welded to the wheel. It took an hour, but I finally got it scraped clean and back to working right. Now, I am too sore and worn out to enjoy more yard antics.

You're really getting it done huh,Faye?

I wish! I am sitting here this morning thinking of what jobs on my long list, I will attempt, today. I have crossed several off because everytime I get up to refresh my poor girls mocha, I hear my muscles saying in a voice that sounds like our @Von Jones, "NO NO Nanette!" :sneaky:

I'm sitting here wondering when I can get back to work. i did vaxuum yesterday hyst caused more pain.
I still wash dishes, cook and pick up. But the pain is still intense.Just takes time.

Overcast but warm enough to do my walk, wearing long sleeves, no jacket, just my stretch sports vest over top. I opted not to keep my normal out and about walking bra on, because the girls, or the muscles above them, were whining like progressive Democrats. The addition of my sports vest, gave the girls the support they needed and nipped that issue in the bud.

I was feeling so good, I decided to try the hill. a 500 foot rise in a half mile. Some days I amaze myself. I didn't slow one bit and strode up the hill, stopping at the top, wishing I had a flag to plant, and pose like I have seen in an iconic photo.

Remembering I had bananas and buttermilk to get at the store, I took a loop down for some shopping. As I rounded the aisle at the bakery, on my way for buttermilk, the corner of my good eye caught a 2 for 1 price deal. It was a large slice of carrot cake, 2 for 1. Now had I been walking the direction of the arrows (opposite of my approach today) during COVID days, I wouldn't have seen the sign because my glaucoma eye would never had caught that little sign.

Immediately, my mind went to those Covid days when I was walking the opposite direction of the arrows, and a young lady masked, hijab worthy, yelled at me, "Don't you see the arrows?" I replied that I didn't even see the Indians. :sneaky:

2 1/2 hours on a step ladder, 3rd rung, and my patio cover valleys and gutter is clean. Also another hour and all my yard faucets with remote valves are going with no dripping. 75 F and T shirt. Hoping the sun helps the alligator skin on my arms. Lots of projects left, none of them easy, just preparing for weekly maintenance. I would post this on the Gardening Thread, but it has nothing to do with growing things. It is more about destroying plant life. :ROFLMAO:

Let me start at the beginning. It was a beautiful day yesterday. Sunny 76F no wind and while I enjoyed a nice morning walk, I had plans to get started on weed eating around this banana ranch. Banana ranch is a saying I got from my dad when things got difficult on the ranch. "Well, Faye let's get out on this banana ranch, in this blizzard, and see if we can work our way down to the haystack and move in the panels." To my knowledge, my dad had never been to Jamacia and picked bananas. He did like singing the Banana Boat song when it came out, although he didn't like the commie that sang it.

Well, I'll be a lemurs aunt if the phone didn't ring and a disabled friend needed me to accompany her to her heart doc appointment. Her granddaughter was sick and baled on her. I said sure, since it was early and the rest of the day would be mine. The doc wasn't pleased with the meds she was taking and her blood test revealed that she was near bumping uglies with the dialysis clinic. I went with her to her PCP and after a long wait and visit, they took her off some of the meds, made an appointment with the nefreckles (can't think how to spell kidney doc, nephrectomy or something, aah thanks spell check) was made. By then my day was shot and my mood shifted to procrastination, with yard work rescheduled for today.

I was in good spirits when I arose this morning. I did my workout and decided to go out on my patio and enjoy the coolness. The sound of heavy rain was pounding on my metal patio cover. Well, if that wasn't a fine kettle of rotten fish, I thought. I guess I semi lost it because I went out to the uncovered part of the patio, and let the rain soak me. It was cold, but I noticed when I came in that my girls were still dry. My legs, with soaked leggings, were wet as was my ungarmented midsection.

I discovered that my Poshmark find, a fake black reptile skin, $150 sports bra for $20 was waterproof. Wow, I thought, that was a great fake of alligator leather, waterproof and very real looking and it isn't neoprene. I have never had a waterproof sports bra before, and I am not sure why that is a good thing. I have never understood wetsuit neoprene to make bikinis. Keeping 10% of your body warm and dry, doesn't sound like a win win to me for cold water recreating.

So, after I dried off and fixed my first cup of old Joette, my poor girl's mocha, I sat here bemoaning the lost of today for yard work, and wondering if I will still have such enthusiasm, as yesterday, if it doesn't rain Sunday? :sneaky:

Monday is here and it is cold, but no wind. As soon as the sun decides to stop playing peek a boo, I will don the apparel suitable for yard work and go do some weed eating and lawn edging. Mowing may commence after the weeds and grass is brought to justice, but we shall see, we shall see, said the blind lady to the deaf one. :sneaky:

Just one more mug of my hot chocolate and coffee hybrid drink, and then who knows? The sun is still hid, so I know the Shadow doesn't know jack.

Four hours and I feel like I have been beat, with sticks and maybe a few
stones tossed, I kid you not! Here is photo evidence of the tools used in
the rodeo that went on, this morning, at my ranch of pain.

I put my dirty lawn shoe in to authenticate this is not a photo lifted off the internet.
Also, the underneath of my mower so I could brag about freeing the clutch idler wheel.
The power drive is back, good as new. Much better on the shoulders and faster.
