No, I have no experience with the electric ones. Like you, I have heard they are not trustworthy, but I have no idea why not. The technology certainly exists, and it would make canning a lot easier. Maybe they have had failures or explosions. Also, you don't want the pressure to vary with pressure canning. The possibility exists that you could kill your family...or end up with food covering your kitchen walls and ceilingI do recall that you use a pressure canner, Don. Have you had any experience with the electric canners? I know there has been some controversy around them but they seem to be gaining in popularity. I'm looking at the Presto 12 quart model.
