Introductions

Sorry about that, @Joe Riley . I didn’t mean to get the whole introductions thread way off topic.
I do that myself Yvonne...Just forget what thread I am in, or have moved on to...just drag the topic along and replant it at the next stop. To paraphrase Frost: "Good thread topics make good neighbors"!:)

Me either. But I think there is no pressing need to "Stay on Topic" unless there is some compelling reason to do so. I used to go this forum years ago that had one thread, and it was the king of ramble on threads. There was no topic... 😋

Hey, all!! How have you been? Sorry I'm late to the party. I've been living on another forum that has thousands of members and have enough of my life sucked up in front of a monitor. It's been my place to see what's on folks' radar screens regarding current news topics...you gotta wade through Valid News and Rage Bait. It's so large that most of it is just folks dumping comments, with little-to-no interaction or conversations.

It's good to be back. Thanks for doing this, Ken. I know it sucks up a lot of time.

ps: I gotta chuckle at where I dropped in. So you're gonna solve the Ramble/No Ramble issue, huh? I think I'll just watch that one from the sidelines.

Hey bud. Glad to 'see' you. Be sure to start a diary or something and get us all caught up. Hope you're doing well health-wise.

I'm an Alumni from 2015, at least I think that's when I became a member of Ken's forum (LOL).

Since all of the Alumni know me, I'll keep this Introduction short (I hope).

Currently living in Henderson, Nevada, but are making plans to move back to northern Colorado. Have lived in: Colorado (twice before), North Carolina and Northeastern Florida.

Due to my parents divorce, was raised, during my high school years, with relatives on their small hog farm in northeastern Indiana. Hog/beef cattle farms surrounded us and most of us were involved with 4-H and/or FFA.

Enlisted in the Navy before I graduated high school in May 1968. Was in a Destroyer Escort Group out of San Diego and Long Beach.

After the Navy, my first job was working at Knott's Berry Farm on their Stagecoach Ride taking care of horses, etc. After that: Ambulance Driver/Attendant, Warehousing/Shipping-Receiving/Electronics Stockroom/Purchasing Jr. Buyer and Inventory Management. Retired in 2007.

In 1985, attended my first professional rodeo in Long Beach and got hooked on it. Ended up buying a "roping" horse, necessary tack, going to a Roping School and bought my Permit as a Team Roper in PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). Had a descent paying job, so only done rodeo on weekends in So. California. That lasted for approximately 15 years, then sold my horse and stopped roping, but still helped Stock Contractors in the arena at different rodeos.

Married my GREAT Christian wife in 2001. Found out very quickly just how much she loves rodeo and has become a very serious rodeo fan. We've been to many, many PRCA rodeos. We are also paid yearly members of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Have met numerous World Champions since we've been married. Also found out how much she likes target shooting.

Last year found out I had Prostate Cancer after getting MRI, Biopsy and PET Scan. Have gone thru 28 sessions of radiation therapy and now on Hormone Injection every 3 months. Earlier this year, before radiation and hormone injection, my PSA (prostate blood analyzing for cancer) was 28. Currently, as of last month/November, my PSA is now .04. Due to a possible stomach problem, will be getting a CT Scan and talking with a GI doctor later. Thank God, I have a VERY supportive wife that has helped me a lot during the time period.
Good to see you, Sir. I've often thought of you and wondered how things are going with your health.

I'm glad the prostate stuff is under control. I had bad gastric issues maybe 10 years ago after I lost my health insurance for stupid reasons and lived with it until the next January rolled around and I could get covered again. I got a colonoscopy and a CT Scan w/contract around the same time. For some reason, things cleared up immediately after the barium drink and the colonoscopy prep. It's not an uncommon story, although the doctors sneer at it. Maybe you'll have the same luck.

Glad you are back @John Brunner. Several of us have awaited your return.

Yep we are relatively okay. I have had some recent cardiac issues I thought I might not survive, but everything is going okay for the moment. Your urinary stuff okay?
Yeh, my urologist had me talk to a colleague about a procedure where they ream me out to remove all resistance and see if the little pressure I regained would be sufficient. If it's not, I could press my fist against my bladder to finish. I declined the offer. I've been instilling gentamicin and a vinegar dilution and swapping the thing every 14 days, and it's always clean. So far, so good.

I got hearing issues I'm gonna post in the health section. My GP said "You need tubes." The ear doctor (after a 5 month wait) said "It's just old age." But it's not just that. I think the COVID virus (contracted April 1) has messed things up. I'll post details tomorrow.

It took me a while to find the Introduction section but here I am. Von Jones, formally Von Jones of SOC -01, in the Buckeye State of Ohio.

Life has thrown its punches one being, Johnny passed away in March after a long illness. :( Having to deal with his ex-wife trying to bogard herself into how things should be handled, but I didn't answer my door. It could have gotten pretty nasty if I had put Jesus on the shelf and answered the door.

I have missed you all so so much. Ken, I knew you would come through. Thank you.

See you all in the Club.😉

Hello everyone, I’m Lawsy Freet. I’m new here and still learning my way around the forum. I used the name lonely widow because it caught my eye at the time, but I later realized most people use their real names. I can’t change it until Jan 27, 2026. Looking forward to getting to know people and being part of the conversations here

Von, I'm so sorry to hear about Johnny.:(
