I Just Busted AI for being a big BS er

I recently bought pants made by Rachel Comey. I was surprised that they also had a Rachel Covey tag in them. Rachel Comey is a fashion designer and Rachel Covey is an actress. No relationship and no collaboration.

I searched for an answer to why my Comey pants also have a Covey tag. Here is what the AI generated know it all had to say.

Yes, off Poshmark. They are genuine Rachel Comey and all Comey garment care tags I have now seen have a M that looks like a V due to barely visible sides on the darker heaver middle V. My eyesight isn't that good, so I always double check everything.

Lots of scams for sure. Main one I see on Poshmark is seller saying garment made in USA, but tag says different. If they won't show tag photo, I don't buy. eBay is famous for selling garments that look authentic and in many cases close to identical, but close exam shows no country of manufacture or made in Asia.

I have heard that never buy off Facebook as it is full of scams. They claim shipped by USA seller, but after waiting 6 weeks, the buyer discovers that that seller was waiting to get it from China. I don't do FB, but a friend that does, has been ripped off several times ordering off FB. My advise is see if Amazon sells the same item and has a fair return policy. If you have to pay return shipping, beware because although sold and shipped in the USA, they require you ship the item back to China. No one is spending $100 to ship junk back to China to get a $19.95 refund.

I use AI often when researching topics for my job, and I have found that it will usually try to do what it "thinks" it is expected to do, even if it has to make things up. For example, I can't ask it for a list of schools, churches, libraries, and museums in a particular town because if there aren't any libraries or museums, it will either make one up altogether or assign a local address to one in an adjacent town. Rather than telling me it was unable to locate either a church or a museum in that town, which would be the helpful thing to do, it "thinks" it is supposed to find churches and museums. Results are better if I pointedly instruct it not to include anything that isn't actually in that town. So, I have to be careful of how I word the instructions, or be prepared to check up on it. It does learn, though, so if I correct it several times, it gets better for a while, until it forgets not to lie again.

@Ken Anderson Yes, good points. Best answers come with careful input. I guess I had it in the corner, so it just made up the nonsense.

I guess if it was 100% accurate and had developed an attitude, it would have told me I was full of it and my blindness shouldn't be its problem. Examine the tag more closely before bothering it.
