I didn't see any pizza or sub shops, so I'll add that we like Papa John's pizza and Firehouse Subs. :D Last week we had Taco Bell and it was really good. They have the enchirito again and some nice chicken avocado wrap things.

I debated on adding those, but that would have made it too difficult to restrict the total to ten, so I thought I might ask about the pizza places, the doughnut shops, and the sub sandwich places separately, but not tonight, because I am going to bed soon so that we can get an early start tomorrow. I like Firehouse Subs, too. Of course, if no one is interested in this poll, I won't bother with the others.

There are lots of places that have a nationwide reputation but are not near me. I've been to 5 Guys a couple of times and was underwhelmed. Same goes for Chick-fil-A. I always liked Arby's roast beef...but they tend to be pricey. They now have a French Dip that's pretty good.

Too bad Burger Chef and Roy Rogers are no longer around. Same goes for Arthur Treacher's.

For me, it was tough to decide, because I really liked Sonic when I lived in Texas, but I went with Arby's, Five Guys, and Whataburger. I haven't been to a Whataburger since I left Texas, but I liked them a lot.

Most of the drive-throughs have become worthless unless you drive a monster truck. I guess there is no shame in a world that worships conspicuous consumption.

For almost all of my life, going out to eat meant having a hamburger somewhere, so that has always been my most favorite meal always.
It might have been at a drive through on the way home from a trip, or stopping at a little Mom &Pop place; but a hamburger was the usual meal.
We never go to a drive -in now, so choosing a favorite was more difficult.
I really like any kind of Mexican food , so Taco Bell was defnintely on my list, along with Burger King and Arby’s, so a variety.

It's interesting how some regional fast food places have nationwide exposure. I've lived in Virginia my entire adult life and haven't traveled with work since the 90s, so haven't visited any of them...but I know their names.

This thread made me go online and look. There's a Shake Shack in Charlottesville (25 miles away) and a bunch of Sonics in and around Richmond (35 miles away.) So maybe I'll drop by some day.

I don't eat a lot of fast food, but I get a craving for a big ol' fatty, greasy, Burger King whopper once in a while.

The best fast food I have ever tasted is a Bojangles bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. Topped off with a Boberry (blueberry) biscuit.
