Cats Are Cute, But Deadly

Our kitties have discovered the cicadas and Jelly Bean was happily chasing one today and finally caught it.
The cicadas make one noise when they are chirping at night, but they make an angry buzzing sound if you touch them. So the cats have been out there poking at the cicada and watching him vibrate his wings and buzz each time they touch it.
They are not interested in eating the cicada, but now they think they have found an “interactive toy”.

A new neighbor has two cats and two dogs. She lets the cats run free, and I assume they are helping to control the mouse and vole problem. They are also controlling the "excess songbirds" in the area. It is possible that one of the larger relatives of the songbirds will control the cats too.
