A serious question about downsizing

I have no kids/G-kids, most of my friends are dead, [sav] one and he's 2 years older than I.

My question is, who do ya hire to help empty out your home, and 'down-size'? I am thinking about seriously shopping for a senior community and if I find one I like, that has what I need, want etc. For a cost that is doable. How do I clear out this place [two bed] home, and then make my move?

I'm not a hoarder or such but, I have pretty much what you would expect of furniture in a two-bed home. Then ... there is the garage ....... Filled with motorcycles and tools ..... oh man. Just not sure where I would even start?

There are some avenues I can search to sell the motorcycles; I suppose that is the best place to start?

Maybe I should add, I'm about useless, debilitating arthritis. So, whom ever I would hire, would just about need to do it all.

You might consider one of those "estate sale" companies. We hired one for my MIL's property; they came in and set up tables to display stuff, put prices on stuff, advertised the sale dates and managed the actual flow of people. They charged a percentage of the sales and it was worth it to us. The goal was to sell everything that would sell and then donate or toss the rest. (This was after the family had chosen anything they wanted beforehand.) It was rather like a giant garage sale but for the entire house.

@Buck Bailey so sorry fro your lack of movement, most of us understand that.
If you have no kids , perhaps also donate to women's shelter, or to places that help those with fires and etc. But first you need some cash maybe, so a garage sale? then toss or donate the rest.

Back when my mom and dad passed away, I had to go through their house and try to decide what to do with things. I also happened to have a really bad broken leg at the same time, so I was hobbling around on crutches.
I had to hire someone to help me, but our church knew of some people who needed some kind of work, so I had help from them and paid them each day.

We made three piles, stuff I wanted to keep, yard sale stuff, and trash. It was summer, so I had a yard sale and added to it each day. People got in the habit of stopping by on their way past and looking to see what new things I had found. Some even asked me to watch for something in particular. I had an area for free stuff, that was not worth selling but I didn’t want to put in the dumpster.

Even if you do not have a particular church that you go to, you can ask one of your local churches for help from either people who need temporary work, or also if they want to raise money for their youth group. This way, you are getting some good help, and also helping local teenagers do something for their youth group.
