How you sweet little buddy today Steve ( Benji) I’m sure he will recover fairly quick being as young as he is
Our Benji is really active tonight.. I gave him his tranquilizer pill and he is still very active.. He is a puppy.. He doesn't realize that he had an operation and has to keep quite for a few days.. NO WAY !!!!.. We are trying to calm him down but that doesn't work very well, so we just let him go and if he is in pain, he will stop it.. So far, no pain.. His incisions are clean and no swelling or redness.. He absolutely hates his cone around his head and is always trying to get it off, but he can't.. Hopefully tomorrow and every day will be an improvement..
Sound to me like it may be a huge benefit to take Benji to a puppy school once he’s recovered Steve One of the regulars we look after is 2 now ..but he never settled down but with the assistance of puppy training school he’s settled somewhat, ……. He is the she dog who chewed my $300 shoes I’d bought because of my broken leg However he still chews things like clothes and shoes and my precious Aussie Edwin that Louise made for me.
We have all the intentions of having our Benji in a school for behaviour as soon as he is fully recovered from this.. We had some trainers come to the house to try to train him a bit, but he was too young at the time, however we did learn a few tricks that helped.. He will be a good dog but it will take some time and training.. He is extremely affectionate which is a good thing.. Absolutely NO more biting people, but will try to grab anything in his mouth that he can and unfortunately eat it.. I will try to post the picture of him with the cone on his head sometime over this week-end..
How old is he now, Steve? I think one thing that will help is when he is able to go outside and run and play. That will burn off a lot of that puppy energy.
Candy in Canbera hated walking on a leash ..but she would run around the back yard , DH was mowing the grass and she was running around barking at the lawnmower
Benji is 11 months old now.. He was born on the 28th of May, 2023.. 2 days before my birthday.. The problem with letting him run outside is we don't have a fenced in area.. Our back yard is wide open and he would have access to the road where he wouldn't last one minute with the coyotes, grey wolves, foxes, and bears, let alone the eagles...... Kate................ the tranquilizer that he was given is ... Trazodone 50mg.... He gets 50mg at bedtime (one pill) and 75mg 12 hours later (a pill and a half)... I put the pills in a pilltreat so he can eat it without any fuss..

Very cute Kate... I can't get over how the 2 dogs look exactly alike.. Like twins... I mean EXACTLY alike .... Even the name tag shape is the same, except ours is blue...

Yes Louise.. They are the same breed for sure.. They are a cross between a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.... and a Poodle... Ours is called a Cavapoo and in Australia they call it a Cavadoodle...... Same dog... Ours is 10 months old at the end of April... Born May 28th... 2 days before my birthday..
