I think some people have been crapped on so much from the first day they were born is why they go around like an open sore all the time. There is so much Arrested Development in this country.

I think the more appropriate is "it", so all I need is the plural of it which I think would be "its". I guess that would confuse people that hide in their basements away from all the news in the world. It would be like Crocodile Dundee in this clip:

The thing is, I've never encountered any of this in my life. I've read about it. I know of at least one senior church official the United Methodist Church changed the verbiage of the ceremony for so that the woman named "M" would be referred to as "they" and "their." Perhaps if I were still in the work world I would have this forced upon me with the threat of losing my livelihood...perhaps. I'm not sure what I would do.

If I encountered an aggressive activist on this subject, I'd be just as aggressive back at them.
If I encountered an individual who was ensnared in this mess, they have my compassion.

You sound a lot like me, my attitude. I told this story before, but as much as transgenderism is contrary to my full belief in the creation of man and woman, I met a real live "man" that started working at our Grocery Outlet, full garb and all (dressed the part and jewelry wig and all) At first I was surprised, but quickly stepped up to be kind to him he was so nice, very hard-working, and seemed very intelligent which I never really thought about their intelligence levels, just their mental state and how they got to that point.

I always went to his checkstand, but he wasn't there for more than about 3 or so months, never knew is name, didn't get chummy, just treated him kindly, my heart went out to him face to face. I detest hearing about it because like my recent reply with article just proved to me how sad it is. They want to be excepted but I will never support children being "forced" into this insidious destruction a person can do to themselves, with the help of folks that cheer them on including doctors.

I wouldn't go along with their changes of pronouns anymore than I would bring alcohol to an alcoholic :(

I don't want to be called them. I haven't been a them since I was pregnant. I am big enough without the added weight of a pronoun:cool:

Before all this pronoun crap started, ya know, a few years ago when no kid could tell ya what a pronoun was, it seems to me I recall people refer to a single person as ‘they”.

    Example:
Someone describing a car accident but not saying whether it was a man or a woman nor how many were in the car.
1st person: I saw the car swerve and hit the pole.
2nd person: Did they make it out of the car?

The first person gave no hint of how many were in the car yet the 2nd person used the plural, they.

That's a good point. I guess they're eating for two, huh? (I'll have to remember that.)

As an aside, not only was that Methodist leader referred to as "M," I ran into an x-ray tech who also called herself "M." There must be a reason they do this, but I can't find a way to phrase the question properly in an internet search.

I say stuff like that all the time; sort of a colloquialism or informal manner of speaking. Since the 2nd person doesn't know how many were in the car, it just makes conversation easier.

This reminds me, last time I went for my doctor's appointment I filled out some stupid questionnaire online. It asked a bunch of the usual stuff... have I fallen lately, etc. It also asked my "preferred pronouns" which annoyed the hell out of me. I left that blank; they can figure it out for themselves.

The good part of reading those questionnaires is that they’re obviously not dictated via computer.
Otherwise, the question might be phrased thusly:
Uh, like what is your uh, like ya know, your preferred pronoun?

I think the next time I have to fill one of those out I’ll enter the word “it” in the space provided.
