We went and retrieved the last items from our car yesterday , being an air tag , keys and the remote roller door button , now the fun begins with the insurance company ,
The want to give us a pittance for the car , nah not going to happen ….we had it insured from brand new with them and the agreement was new for old ,as we was and still are paying a premium insurance ….i spoke to,someone in April and he assured me it was still the same
Photos taken yesterday at the salvage yard ,it was raining so they bought it into a huge shed for us to get the Apple air tag and other stuff out of it

OPPs have to make photos smaller

Insurance companies make money any way they can. Ripping off their customers is par for the course, whether its homeowners or auto.
I was insured with 21st Century for 50 years with no claims. I had a minor accident a couple of years ago. A driver was parked near the curb & made a left turn as I passed him - right under a sign that said, "No Left Turn." Of course it was his fault but the insurance company said it was my fault because I shouldn't have passed him. Maybe they figured his car was much older than mine, so they would have better luck collecting from me. They tried to raise my rate $2,000.00
I told them what they could do with their policy & changed insurance companies. They tried to bill me a "Cancelling Fee." I told them, "Good luck collecting."

Were the police involved? The insurance company would not have been able to assign blame if the other driver was ticketed and at fault.

How old was your wrecked car, Kate? I don't know about Australia, but "full replacement value" insurance is only good for a couple of years in the USA. I believe it varies by insurance carrier but none of them are for more than a few years. After that it's just book value or comps.

Kate, without knowing the contents of your insurance policy and how the cause of accident is being reviewed there is nothing anyone can do but speculate. I wish you the very best! How is your husband doing?

We finally got some written confirmation from the forensics SA yesterday , that no sample of blood was ever received from the Royal Adelaide hospital
that’s compulsory after a road accident to test if the driver was under the influence of drugs or Alcohol at the time of the accident
So we should know soon if and when our claim will be simply dismissed due to the lack of the blood test or we will get a new car .

It’s a month today since the accident ,it feels more like 6 months ,with the stress of the whole thing
Hubs only has a beer if we go out for lunch , and that’s only once every 6 months or so …..and as far as drugs go ….our only vice there is a coffee and dark chocolate 🤣

It’s already been said by the head cardiologist that the tablet hubs takes for AF .which was 80 mg was to strong for him ..it’s been halved to 40 mg so it’s very likely it dropped his heart rate so much he blacked out ,along with him taking a prostrate tablet that’s also known to drop BP

I found out about the prostate drug's effect on blood pressure. Sometimes, I'd feel dizzy & weak. When it got really bad & I almost passed out on the stairs, I went to the ER. They admitted me for three days. I never got any information from any doctor there, even after I told them what I was taking. They took my BP many times while I was lying down & it was always a little low One smart nurse took my BP while I was standing. 70/50 - way too low to stay conscious. They prescribed a drug that raises it but I still had no explanation about the cause. When I got home, I researched the two prostate drugs the doctor gave me on my own & found that they were the cause; they are "Alpha Blockers."

When you stand, your BP has to go up to get enough blood to your brain against gravity.
These drugs can prevent the necessary rise in BP & your heart will beat much faster in an attempt to compensate. I cut out the nighttime drug & reduced the AM drug to every 2-3 days. I rarely have the problem since.
I'm thinking, "If I found the cause in less than one minute on the internet, why couldn't a bunch of doctors find it??"

When I saw the urologist for a Rx refill, I told him about the problem, expecting him to say something like, "Yes, I should have told you to watch for that side effect." Instead, he just said, "Well, that usually happens right away." What BS. I told him how I eliminated one drug & reduced the dosage of the other drug. He said, "OK, good idea."

That's one hint about why many older people have falls.
Another cause I learned about when chatting with some of my elderly friends: As soon as their patient's blood sugar goes up a bit, their doctor immediately puts them on diabetes drugs to lower it. Blood sugar can go up as we age, along with everything else that starts to wear out & become less efficient. Lowering blood sugar in older people introduces the risk of lows, which are far more dangerous & often lead to falls.
