What Are You Doing Today?

Since I got my truck going yesterday, this morning is goofing off and plant care, then off to a friend's orchard to pick up scion wood for grafting in a few weeks. The wood will be in the fridge until I am ready. Does anyone else here graft plants?

Are you kidding me— I have been known to kill chia pets — plant grafting is waaaay out of my league. I almost said expertise, but that would infer some measure of talent — that I don’t have🤯🤯

I got up,at 6 am ….after a broken nights sleep , form hubs jumping around like a kangaroo ….he gets quivers in his legs and he wakes me up ..he’s had a sleep study done and was recorded as having 18 episodes of quivering but nothing serious

Any at it’s not even 7 am yet …and still dark outside …..I've stripped the bed got top sheet pillow cases hand towels and put them in the washing machine
( front loader ) I don’t like overloading the machine so I only do one sheet with other stuff at a time
Then I’m going to clean up my sewing room from doing those sewing projects

After that I may even have a nap this afternoon … before making our evening meal we have about 4 pm

I feel for you Kate. I have lots of broken nights of sleep too. My husband snores! He has never snored until he retired. It is so annoying. 😠

My husband has developed a condition where he acts out his dreams. Most of us have a "sleep paralysis" thing so we can dream we're punching the bad guy, but not really moving. He was kicking and punching and falling out of bed enough so that we got new twin beds. The sides of the mattresses are higher than the modern queen mattresses that slope a little, so he isn't throwing himself out and the mini-dachshund and I aren't getting those random punches anymore. It's not as cuddly, but your sleep is important.

I finally folded those towels that I have spun around the dryer entirely too many times. Puttered around the backyard, admired the tiny cucumber plants and watered stuff. Made a cherry cream pie and thought about what to make for supper.

I need to call my sister and hear her voice. I'm feeling kind of down today and having a "i'm so tired of random pain" pity party. My husband and I had one of those "what will you or I do when one of us dies" discussions. Ugh. Some days reality actually does bite.

Yes fully understand he ( had ) the same thing ,but luckily he’s not had a episode for over 2 years @Andie White think it’s got something to do with rapid eye movement
He never fell out if bed , but had some weird dreams he’d act out some he’d remember some not .

the sleep study which involved a night in hospital and no signs of dementia / Parkinson’s

Key Aspects of RBD and Violent Dreams:
  • Symptoms: Acting out dreams (screaming, punching, kicking, jumping from bed) while in REM sleep, typically recalling the dream upon waking.
  • Cause: The brain fails to paralyze muscles during dreaming, causing "dream enactment".
  • Violent Content: Dreams often involve defending oneself from attackers or animals (e.g., chasing, fighting).
  • Risk Factors: Primarily affects older adults, particularly men, and is frequently an early sign of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, or multiple system atrophy.
Our home has a guest bedroom with the homes main / bathroom …..and he uses that bedroom to keep he pjs ect and he uses that bathroom to have a shower esch night ……so he was getting pretty close to being moved to that bedroom when he was having the dreams

Our bedroom is a nice size , but not really big enough for 2 king single beds ,he needs a king single ( larger than a single ) cause he’s tall 6 foot 2”
So he would have been well and truely staying in that bedroom by now if the dreams were still happening

Ive got a saved interesting article about the issue on my iPad ( somewhere )

Today marks a week that I have been displaced from my home because of lightening striking the tree in my backyard severing a huge branch that downed the power line to the house. I have been staying at my son's house since. I am thankful. Working to coordinate arrangements with an electrician and for tree removal hasn't been easy last night I just felt an overwhelming sense of 'just wanting to go home' but I can't accomplish any thing there right now.

I believe that everything that happens in life has a reason, a purpose, a revelation and always a resolution. So I sit back and keep alert because it's not just about being without power or being away from home.

Oh my! That lightening was close! I'm glad the tree nor the power lines fell onto your house. I hope you can get back into your home soon!

Oh my goodness, Von. I'm so sorry to hear this, but thank goodness your son is there for you and you have a safe place to be right now. I know what you mean about wanting to be home; there truly is no place like it. I hope the power gets restored soon and you can get back to normal. I imagine you'll have a bit of refrigerator/freezer cleanup when power is restored.

I was watching a youtube short recently showing lightening strikes; it was really terrifying. There is nothing like the raw power of nature to put things into perspective!

It has been so nice and warm, today I took the flannel sheets and warm comforter off of the bed, laundered them and put it all away until next winter.
Sure enough, it is COLD out there today ! It shows a high of 71, but we are now realizing that we had that at midnight last night and it went down hill from there.
This morning, it said 50, feels like 42, and 30 mph north wind. It is now 59, F/L 49, so not much improvement.

Not going to transplant the black raspberry until tomorrow when it will be warmer (hopefully). I had planned to get a spring haircut, so we did go to Great Clips (I had a coupon) and got my hair cut short and fluffy on the top.
I like long hair in the winter because it helps keep the back of my neck warm, but in the summer, i have to clip it up on top for the same reason; so I just decided to cut it short for the summer and let it grow back this winter.

Do you know how long before you will be back in your home, @Von Jones ? It is definitely fortunate that the heavy branch missed your house and roof, but terrible that you lost your power because of it. Adding our prayers that it all comes together for you soon, and you do not have a lot of cleanup once you are back in your house again.

More soil. I am rediscovering muscles which have been in hiding for a while. New OB makes Eric Dane RIP look mousy. Manners and bio match the looks.
Not overly puffed vest in a denim color and long enough to go to the tailbone. 50 off, 15 off and it fits. I have no cold weather outer wear but an ankle long mink.
