What Are You Doing Today?

Today is Saturday........... All day....
I intend to stay home and be very busy doing absolutely nothing all day... No time to do anything..
It is a bit cool out with the temperature at -25c during the daytime..
Nice and warm at home..

Perhaps I will consider cooking a decent supper............................. maybe....

Today and tomorrow are having "warning level" wind chills, so I ain't going out. I just had French Toast & sausage, and after I digest that I'm gonna tune in to the Westminster Masters Agility Championship (dog obstacle course) this afternoon. 4:30PM Eastern Time on FOX.

Here is 2024's 12" Class winner: "Nimble," an All-American [mutt] breed. You really needed to watch the previous dogs to get a frame of references as to how daggone fast this critter is. There was a 3.5 second spread between Fourth and Second Place, and this dog smoked Second Place by over 7 seconds (ran the course in 29 seconds.) It was like watching the race on fast-forward...and she had fun doing it.

If you tune in or watch the vid, look for is the yellow painted area on the bottom of the ramp and teeter-totter. The dog must touch those...it cannot leap off halfway down. And the dog must stay on the teeter-totter for it to bottom out before getting off of it. Just amazing stuff.

While I was still working, my coworker in the office next to mine was a Sheltie breeder and handler. Her dogs were in agility competition and she had a van fitted out with dog crates and supplies for traveling to various shows. The agility competition is definitely the most entertaining of the dog shows. I guess I've been out of it for a while, but this is the first I've heard of "American Breed" (mixed) in competition.

All-American is kinda like an Alaska Husky I guess. bred for function rather than appearance, although he (?) looks like he is mostly border collie. Herding dogs are amazing.

I don't care for the Best In Breed beauty pageants, anymore than I know the difference between horses. But I do love a good race.

I think the AKC (and maybe another group) verify purity of bloodline when judging canine beauty pageants. "All American Breed" = "I'll call you sometime." ;)

And that dog sure is mostly Border Collie. Watching herding dogs makes one believe that Nature outweighs Nurture any day of the week.

Got the mail. I think I now have all of the income statements and such so I can start on my tax return.

Any day now... I hate the process. 😜
I pulled some money out of retirement last year so have to file a return for this first time since I've retired. I get the USPS Informed Delivery Digest email and will receive my 1099 today.

If I may ask, do you use online software to file?

Yes, I have for several years now. My taxes are simpler than they once were.

Lately I've used this one:

But there are others out there.

Thanks! I've seen others mentioned. Last time I filed, it was with hard copy, but I don't believe the IRS takes paper anymore.

I file paper every year. The first time I use a electronic filing service they found my papers in an employee's desk who had been on maternity leave. I said never again. I tried TurboTax and wanted to print out my forms and they wanted to charge me a fee, no no Nanette. I have filed mailed my taxes in since the 80s after an H & R Block class. I keep up with the tax changes that affect me.

That's interesting. I worked for Block for a few years in the 80s, and took their Tax Preparer class.

I'm basically nosy and like to hear about what people are up to. This thread is for sharing random stuff about your day for a glimpse into your life.

My days are fairly mundane, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Today I ran some errands, did a load of laundry, and cooked dinner. I guess they won't be making an action movie about my life. What did you do today?
Because of being iced in, most of the day, my little dog and I took several snoozes on my Lazy Boy recliner and just listened to the peaceful chirpings of my pet finches.
Won't take much time to make a one-pot chicken, potato and veg dinner.
Just shove it in the oven for one hour while me and Sunny take another snooze.

It sounds like you must be in the part of the country that had the ice storm, @Bill Johnson ? Several of us are in that part of the country, and here in north Alabama where we live, we got the cold but the snow and ice storm pretty much went north of us and hit Tennessee and the Carolinas pretty bad.

We have an introduction thread if you would like to tell us a little bit more about yourself, what part of the country you are in and what pets you have , like your little dog and the finches you mentioned.
Here is the link to the introductions thread.

We have used TurboTax for many years. I believe it's free to use via our credit union website. It is e-file but we print out copies and also have the PDF files. We don't have state income tax.

We don't have state income tax either, and we e-filed our taxes and received our refund in 4 days! A new record for the IRS for us.
