I learned something new while searching for the proper way to store lettuce by looking online. I used to wash it all and then put it in a container in the fridge, but some of it would get mold or just get funky looking after time. Online it said to not wash but wrap it in a paper towel and then store in the fridge. Take out what you need for the meal and then wash. It works and keeps the salad fresh.

Lately I've found myself learning things that I wish I had remained ignorant of. It gets harder to trust other people every day.

I believe that there are still more good and trustworthy people out there than not; although it is the weird ones that we see and hear about, and sometimes, they are the ones who get catered to.
I think that the craziness happening in our world has us all learning things we wish we had never heard of, and seeing things that would have been unbelievable when we were growing up, like all of the liberal riots, and the transgenders openly in public offices and looking ridiculous with their cartoon figures and smeared lipstick.

I am however, moving back to God a bit more; learning things I have forgotten investigating things anew because of the nuttiness out there. And finding out that counties can have power, I intend to attend my county meetings this year, maybe to get a bit involved.

Hey, I am learning a bit more about birds--something I can do just by sitting by the window (and cheating throwing my birdseed out on the deck every morning.) I am often notified that I am late by people pecking at my patio door. The cardinals call to let me know but the junkos and chickadees pick at the seeds in the frame that I spill as I throw. Today I had two nuthatches that are new this season. My favorite are the tufted titmice although I don't know why they are called that. My middle daughter asked me. Something to learn. My youngest daughter would know. She already knows everything there is to know about birds.

We are all too afraid of 'offending' someone.
I read a book by Hal Lindsey 4 decades ago about the agendas they were planning to push, very prophetic to say the least, it all happened for them plus some.

I picked the up a few months ago. I would let a head sit in the fridge overnight before prepping a week's worth of salad for my vacuum canister, and it would get a little "funny." Now when I get home from the store I use your paper towel trick and it works perfectly.

And I am finding that, although I've been all over the news for years, I see where things are going and ... just don't think I have to plow all that into my head every day. I've been spending some time today organizing and deleting news bookmarks from my browser. Lots of them.

Yeah, many things are getting odd (and many are not), but I want to spend my life being a little happier than having to hear about the weirdnesses all the time. There's way more to being happy than keeping up with all that stuff.

It's a tough balance to find, but when it hits the point of being self-abusive, it's time to pull away from the screen.

Jenna, I don't blame you, wise choice most of the time. Too much bad news isn't good for anyone. Although being aware of things seems wise, just not obsessed.

I agree! I'm not saying I'm weak-minded, because I'm not. I'm just not willing to keep going through all this all the time. And ... there are much more pleasant things to do. :)

I think it's healthy to pay enough attention to the news to have an idea of what's going on, but without overly trusting what you see, hear, or read, and to shut yourself off from it for most of every day. When I was in my 20s, I had an idea that I was going to make a big impact on the world, but in my 70s, I am well aware that I can't trust any of it and there isn't anything I can do about any of it anyhow, so there's no point in being angry all the time.
