Introductions

My name is Ken Anderson and this isn't really me in the picture. It's not anyone, actually; it's an AI-generated image. I asked it to generate an image of an old guy and here I am. I'll tell a secret too; SOCAdmin isn't using his real picture either. I don't have any photos of myself that I like on this computer and, for some reason, I'm not able to access Dropbox.

Hey. I'm "Beth Gallagher," at least in the SoC world. I think most of you know the story of my life so I won't rehash. It's great to be back "home" again.

I'm in the same boat, avatar-wise. My Windows PC died and it had all my "stuff" on it. Nothing important but my avatar files were on there. I've been using my MacBook and I really despise it, but that's another story. I need to find a pirate avatar since I'll be wearing an eyepatch soon.

Hi @Beth Gallagher. Eyepatch? Are you having surgery?

Since it's no secret to most of you, for anyone who might be new, I am the forum administrator. Once we get things going here, you won't see SOCAdmin much anymore because I'd rather participate in the forum as a regular member, and don't need to be treated any differently than any other forum member. Right now, I have been in the forum under the SOCAdmin account more often because I am setting things up or trying to figure out how to set things up, and the SOCAdmin account lets me flip back and forth between the discussion area and the backend without having to log out and back in again.

Hello, all you good people! I have thought of all you while we were apart and hoped that y'all were well and happy.

In case y'all don't remember, I'm just a simple country girl. I live in North Carolina in the country near a small country town. I'm a retired librarian; I have two sons, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great granddaughter, and one great grandson named Bubba. 😉

I am so glad to see you join @Shirley Martin !

My name is Steve North.. I was a member of the old forum...
I live in the north, in Massey, Ontario just on top of lake Huron.. Population just under 1000 people.. I generally like to play games rather than get into discussions that result in arguments..
I am 84 years young and still work the field during the summer months with my tractor.. We have acreage and there is always something to do there, including my vegetable garden.. Winter time I am like a bear, and do nothing much..
Looking forward to posting on here mostly during the winter months..

In my garden I grow vegetables that don't take a long time to grow as our season is rather short..
Tomatoes have been overly successful, carrots, parsnips, onions, zucchini are all good up here..
I also have 3 or 4 marijuana plants which are perfectly legal here to grow.. I don't consume it but I make an ointment for my wife for her arthritis.. It is the most wonderful thing that works 100% for her pain.. I also use it when needed..

I would like to try growing marijuana plants for health use because I have also read about how helpful it is. There are so many different types of this plant , and some are developed for the parts that get people high, but others are more for the healing attributes, and people use those for ointments or as green smoothies, and other additions to their diet. I have no idea if they have legalized growing it here or not, but they probably will eventually if it is not already.

There are apparently places where it still grows wild as hemp in areas where hemp was grown commercially for rope years ago. There are advertisements from the WW2 time where farmers were encouraged to grow hemp.
If you search YouTube for hemp ww2, it shows some of the old films made about growing it, and the uses they had for hemp back then.

I sent an email to @John Brunner , because I was worried he might be sick, or having problems from that big storm that came through. He said he is fine, but has some things he is taking care of, and then he should be here with us again.
Mary Stetler and Tom Galty also said they were coming back, @Marie Mallory said that Jake will be here once he is done with the truck repair; so slowly, but surely, people are working their way back here to our SOC forum.

What about Nancy, Yvonne?

I messaged Nancy, but she said she wants to stay where she is at for the time being. We can keep hoping she will come back. She always has the great diary stories. I think if everyone is here and not there, she will come back. Joe said he liked it on DHQ, and since he posts most copy/paste from the internet, he will probably be happier there.
I think I have contacted everyone that I know how to reach at this point, and we just have to hope that more will find us some other way.
