Random Political Discussion

The state declared it’s too luxurious because now he has a shower and a bathtub. This is apparently too luxurious and would improve the rental property too much, which could lead to the neighborhood becoming too expensive.

So the German state called in contractors to rip it out. And it’s gone.

The EU had gone full blown broken.
John, I did a bit of digging. Berlin is not my thing. It is a rental in an area with basically stabilized rents to keep owners from increasing rents to drive a diverse population out. Changes and upgrades require approval. He turned x rooms and bath into x rooms and bath plus standalone shower. Standalone showers in addition to a bathtub are not standard in these walk up apartments. This would have allowed a rent increase. Then he tried to be funny haha at city hall instead of pleading ignorance.

Why is it that whenever there is a conflict between the United States and some other country, whether it be economic, military, or something else, the Democrats will come out on the side of the other country? If they are always on the side of the enemy, wouldn't it make sense to consider them to be the enemy? I don't like that we're involved in Iran or Ukraine, but I'm not rooting for our defeat.

I was thinking about this today. Leftists world wide represent every nation but their own. To wit:

To put it in perspective, 70,000 immigrants invaded this town of 84,000 Spaniards en masse, unimpeded. Then the citizens are subject to this insult:

Regarding America, it would not shock me in the least to know that Democrats have been colluding with Iran, China and Canada to undermine Trump heading into the midterms.

Good morning to all-

Ken- with all due respect to you, democrats do NOT always come out on the side of the "other country." That's silly to say.

Now, I am not a democrat- I despise some democrat politicians almost as much as I despise the First Felon- but I will say that when a politician of any stripe says and does wrong, harmful, destructive things which lessen our country, it is every citizen's right and responsibility to point out the errors and work to correct mistakes.

And the First Felon and his supporters already consider anyone who does not line up and blindly follow their dictates as "the enemy."

And I find it offensive if you think my opposition to the First Felon's words and deeds is "rooting for our defeat." I'm "rooting" for the day when we don't have to live under the misguided efforts of the First Felon and his MAGA thugs.

you all be safe and keep well- and confusion to the republicans

Time to tone things down a bit?

Your statement is full of assumptions, and therefore is not logical. First you "assume" that all Democrats, and apparently only Democrats, are against illegal invasions of other countries. I disagree with that obviously false assumption.

Personally I'm not and have never been a member of either of the two main political parties, as they are basically two sides of the same coin, obsessed and controlled by the same or similar objectives, and a lack of care of what happens to the rest of the country.

Regarding the ten plus wars started by the present administration, I'm against all of them, and hope they're all lost. I like it that Iran is winning, defending themselves, and getting rid of the oppressive U.S. military bases that should never have been put there in the first place.

I'm rooting for the freedom for Iran, for the rest of the middle eastern countries, the rest of Latin American, for all other countries, and for the world to live in peace for a change. Hopefully I'm not the only one in this country who feels this way.

While the people in D.C. are getting rich from the wars, the people of this country are also suffering consequences, because we're the ones who are getting screwed over by involuntarily paying for them through our increasing taxes, the climbing inflation rates, insurance and housing costs, basic necessities like food & housing, while the billionaires who make out like bandits are the ones who get all the benefits and exclusions. I don't know why any rational caring person would be supportive of such things.

When I say "Democrats," I am speaking primarily of elected Democrats or those who are representative of the Party. I don't know what registered Democrats think; just what they vote for. I have clarified more than once that when I speak of "Democrats," I am speaking of those who are elected Democrat officials or otherwise politically representative of the Democrat Party. I know people who are registered Democrats who seem to be sensible people; I don't know why they vote the way they do, but that's not who I'm talking about.

Good afternoon to all-

" I don't know what registered Democrats think; just what they vote for."

And I know very, very well what those who voted for the republicans voted for- thugs, liars, obedient minions who support without question the worst curse- that would be the First Felon-to pollute our nation's politics in our lifetime.

As far as attributing any kind of thought to those who put the MAGA crew in power- I don't think much thinking went on.

Most of us knew exactly what we were voting for and would happily do it again. I will match my mental acuity against yours any day of the week. I don't need to call people names and use elementary school insults to get my point across.

I voted for an end to the insanity of the liberals who want nothing more than to destroy this country. Four years of Biden drooling and stumbling through open borders, coddling lunatics and their "pronouns", having our rights being chipped away slowly but surely, naming disgusting perverted men wearing makeup and dresses to the president's cabinet, etc. We were the laughing stock of the entire world during Biden's administration, but they aren't laughing now.

So yes, Ed. I would have voted against any liberal and will do so for as long as I live. You may wish to live under socialism and sharia law, but I do not.

@Ed Delabama - Who did you vote for then, if you don't mind saying so?
Personally I felt there were no good options in the last election, & likewise for quite a few of them before that.

Good evening to all- I voted for the better of the two candidates.

And you are right, there have been very few GOOD candidates for important political office recently.

Good evening to all-

I prefer to live under the Constitution of the United States- not under an emperor who makes up executive orders which allow him and his minions to ignore laws made by Congress and states, and to abuse people without recourse to law. I prefer to live in a country with a leader who does not put us to war without a plan and a goal and with clear, concise ways to win this war. I prefer to live in a country where the president does not put the federal government against states because these states did not vote for him. I prefer to live in a country where the "leader" does not concern himself more with tearing down the White House and pasting his name on public buildings like an advertising campaign. I prefer to live in a country where the president does not lie and lie and lie.

And I really don't think you want to "match my mental acuity against yours any day of the week." You just might not like the outcome of that contest- I might not either.

I went the US citizenship and renounced my own to be able to legally vote. A bit pricey but worth every cent to me.

How about cleaning up in Alabama for starters?

@Ed Delabama, when have you voted against the Democrat in a general presidential election?
Good evening to all-

Well, Ken, to be honest- that is none of your damned business. but I will tell you since you already know the answer, I have NEVER voted for a republican. This is absolutely because there were no republicans who voiced any opinions or beliefs that I could accept. It was NOT because of the label they attached to themselves- it was because I felt their views were not in line with mine.

And I have voted against democrats when I had a better option- not often happened, but again, I vote on the words of the candidate, not the letter behind her/his name.

Good evening to all-

Marie Miller- Oh, how I try to do this very thing. It is hard being a voice crying in the wilderness, but I try.

I love the ecology of Alabama. I love many of the people here. I love the beaches and marshes, and I even love the weather here- except when hurricanes blow us away.

But I detest the politics here. Alabama is controlled by white, ultra-conservative, small minded and downright mean as hell people. And they are empowered by small-minded and ignorant folks who respond to the cruelty, bigotry and tradition which is very much alive here.

I do what I can to change all of this.

No matter where you are there are things you do not particularly enjoy. Weigh your options. Can you do something about what you do not like? Are there places which would suit you better?

Well, Ed, I don't cast my vote the way some people root for their chosen sports team. In presidential elections, I voted for the Democrat in 1972, and I did not vote for Ford in 1976, and I did not vote for Bush in 1988 or in 1992; I did not vote for Dole in 1996; I didn't vote for Bush in 2004, McCain in 2008, or Romney in 2012.
