What Are You Doing Today?

I'm engaging in my favorite hobby...beating myself up for not doing anything. For some reason, this has been The Summer of Procrastination. It's not a new look for me...

I was talking to my sister last night and she said the same thing. All she wants to do is sit in her recliner with a book and a glass of iced tea. I told her to do whatever she pleases and enjoy it. Nobody cares if there are dust bunnies under the bed; read the book.

Yeh, but I need to have firewood delivered and I gotta stack it. I usually have this done by April. Last year it was June. It's still undone. I also got vines growing up buildings...yet here I sit.

I sometimes think I procrastinate because the relief when I finally get off my ass is an unparalleled rush.

I'm watching the final Little League World Series Softball Championship game (Kentucky v North Carolina.) It's kinda fun watching the giggly girls farting around with each other in the dugout, and then they're laser-focused pros on the field of play. Then when the inning is over, they're laughing and high-fiving their way off of the field.

Besides that, they're all damned good...even the team that's trailing.

(The games just ended. NC won 2-0)

@John Brunner , This summer weather has not been conducive to getting busy, especially with outdoor things.

Yesterday morning was a great hour on the tractor. The weather had a short window to where I felt like doing something and tha was putting the big salt blocks out, plus mulching down a huge pile of wasted hay. One pile — there’s a lot more..

There are all manner of vines growing everywhere. I have repeatedly cloroxed the Virginia creeper & poison ivy behind the horses water tubs because I don’t want to use anything more toxic near their water. Meanwhile it continues to annoy me with occasional itchy dots, no matter how careful I am.

This stuff generally quiets down by now, but not this year. Soon as I am able to stop paying the lawn service for mowing, I am going to pay them to weed whack my fences and whatever else needs the vines cut back. I don’t have the money to do it all at once so I have to wait until the mowing is done and trade that in for weed whacking for a month .

Don’t get upset with yourself, blaming on the weather😇😇

Headed over to the rehab hospital to see my lady friend in an hour or two. I visited her twice yesterday,, but she slept thru the first one, so that doesn't really count. I need to trim the hedges around the house again, but not sure if I'm up to it today.

I do plan on buying a Power Ball lottery ticket today - the jackpot is up to $905 million. That's enough to pay off all my Amex AND most of my Mastercard!

It may be your lucky day!

It's a rainy day today which is good for the lawn and a nice break from the heat. I'm still working on cleaning out and organizing the kitchen pantry; I have a couple of shelves to go. I have tossed two kitchen trash bags full of expired canned goods and cereals, most of it purchased during the pandemic insanity... canned soups, Dinty Moore stew, etc.

Like every other day, a load of laundry.

Laundry today was just for vintage USA Harley Davidson bareback jeans, I just got from Poshmark. Tomorrow, the matching zip front USA made Harley corset vest arrives. I can't rid myself of that horrid waist fat, mistakenly called love handles, so I'll just compress it out of visual existence. :sneaky:

I had to call my cell company to change credit card number for autopay account. The agent I talked too two weeks ago, said he had changed it. Lying dog! Luckily I got it done before I got charges for late payment.

Tomorrow, I have to get things set up with mortgage company that took over my mortgage. That should do it, but I will be surprised if some company doesn't charge the old number and then get all out of shape over rejection.

Went out to lunch today and had great authentic Mexican food. No word yet from biopsy or Oncologist. Eyes still as wonky as ever. Most times, changing glasses helps by making eyes readjust, but sometimes a patch over my bad eye is the only way.

Muddling through, keeping occupied and entertained.

Replaced a string of solar lights out front yesterday. Glad I'd bought a spare set on sale last year. They don't handle the weather more than a few seasons, and this last set I replaced was still working... except at some point, some how, I had cut the cord halfway down the line so half the lamps were out. Weed whacker? Weather? Critters? Lawn guy doing insect control beneath the shrubs?

Huge tree limb came down a couple nights ago in the wind of a storm. Need to get to that, it is bigger and thicker than most I deal with. Long-dead Cottonwood widowmaker that's been dangling up high a few years. I'll use a rope to shift it for cutting, weighs a ton and very long - too unpredictable to fiddle with in close proximity.

Need to tackle the dining corner from blinds to floor boards and chairs. The new table should be here in two weeks. This monster will not move once it is settled up. SO found a tinted glass table topper with beveled edges. As I refuse rags as in place mats, coaster, … and use WiltonWare platters instead it may be useful.

I didn't feel like doing much at the homestead so I figured I'd drive into Charlottesville to do my weekly shopping and hit Harbor Freight. As I was driving down the road I saw some nasty storm clouds and remembered that last night I happened to surf into the Charlottesville weather forecast on tv. They were calling for thunderstorms with 60mph-70mph winds between 1PM and 4PM. Glad I happened to see it...there's nothing called for out this way other than some rain later. So I went to the local stop 'n rob to get a sandwich and give the help a hard time.

Laundry is a curse a jealous witch put upon us. How do two people create mountains of it?

Indeed. Where DOES all the laundry come from? Especially when it’s only one person? I started the washer at 5:30 this morning so I could get the clothes in the dryer on my way out the door to feed the horses. I don’t like running the dryer in the heat of the day in these kinds of temperatures.

These kinds of temperatures means our feels like is predicted to reach 110° for the rest of the week. I really hope that doesn’t happen but it’s a strong possibility. I have been fortunate to have quite a bit of cloud cover every day so that helps a lot.

I tip my hat to all of you who turn on your stoves and ovens in this weather. .I buy stuff I can either put in the air fryer (which I am learning to use) or in the microwave. I refuse to use the stove or the oven until it hits 50° out - I do not like to cook in case anybody hasn’t guessed that by now🤠🤠

@Faye Fox I LOVE the Harley tiny home! I don’t suppose there are pictures of the interior??

I am not doing much, which is a shame as winter is just around the corner here. I injured my right arm somehow and there is a deep infection. I am taking Keflex for a while to see if it improves. It seems to be improving, but I still can't use my right arm to eat, brush my teeth, or comb my hair, what's left of it.
That stinks. I've taken Keflex for bladder infections and it knocked it right out. I did not know it had other uses. How long ago did you start taking it?
