Good afternoon to all-

The person in question- AOC- does not have the market on stupid cornered in Washington. There are a great many stupid people in government from the very highest positions on down.

And it seems that the stupider the politician, the more noise he/she makes. Funny how that works.

It's enough to get a person down, it is.

Random, but anyhoo...

I'm becoming unhappy with a certain element on the right that seems to be a lot larger than I had imagined.

Almost a caricature of Hillary's "deplorables." Cash-economy tax evaders, welfare cheats, disability whores, and sleazy "operators" running scammy "businesses." I'm not taking a whiz on "the poor" but most do seem to emanate from trailer parks and suburban ghettos, at least pf those I am encountering. Yes, some have served in branches of the military but they also seem to be washouts who could not cut it.

I've seen this most often around local coin shops and in two curiosity visits dropping in to a small town gun shop. The gun store owner even brought this topic up to me, admitting that he has a lot of "scary" customers but he also has to be careful in his reporting to authorities to avoid retribution. Many seem to have serious substance abuse going on along with mental/behavioral issues.

Somehow in recent decades I'd begun to assume most of the insanity was on the left, but no more.

This is a huge disappointment, but at my age I should have known better. There are drug-addled mental-midget marginals with f-ed up financials and rock bottom morals everywhere today. I'm even finding it among "educated" people who can speak in complete sentences. People like that might seem to have held life together, but then you find clues or clear demonstrations that they are not healthy whole people.

Politically... these seem just as likely as some purple-haired bull-ringed lesbian to be co-opted into violent mob movements.
 
The people you describe might vote Republican, but they don't seem to be representative of people on the right. Perhaps they vote Republican because they believe that Republicans are less likely to take away their guns.

I want to know how you have determined that these dregs are "an element of the right?" My first assumption would be that they are politically un-affiliated and have never seen the inside of a voting booth.

And that's not to say that there aren't nutters on both sides of the political spectrum.

Oh, subtle thing, like Trump bumper stickers and their loud comments.

I'm a bit surprised by the pushback on this. Extremists are extremists. They are not isolated to one end of the political divide along any axxis.

I did not "edit out" I quoted. Anyone can read the original text.

"Nutters?" No, those do exist as well, but there are also plain old extremists and I'm finding little actual difference in the extremes at both ends. Mentally unstable, emotion-driven, probably on the same prescription and "recreational" drugs. The main distinction might be that the welfare queens are not as far Left as the tax-bitching and evading disability whores are far Right.

As for my experiences being imaginary or my conclusions invalid... well, I think I know how to spot gaslighting.
 
In any large group, there are likely to be people on the extreme ends, including those with mental health problems, so I don't get the point. In a group like a political party, where anyone can identify as part of the group or slap a bumper sticker on their car, of course you'll find those.
