I still listen to this music. XM Radio has a 40s channel (it used to have a bunch of jazz channels, which is why I initially signed up.) Since I played a brass instrument from 4th grade onward, it's what I always gravitated to, even being when the "classic rock bands" were first on the scene. I still listen to Jack Jones Peggy Lee et al. It's good stuff.
We like a slower pace , my favourites are blues and saunters
This is a blues ….we do …..so not honky tonk type of blues…….We ….don’t …..throw our arms and legs about …it’s NOT in the original scripts ….its all about ….SHOW ….We are only social dancers …
This is when New Vogue style of dancing started ( the type we do )
Copied this
New Vogue dancing originated in Australia during the 1930s. Developed as a form of sequence dancing, it emerged as a popular alternative to traditional English Old Time dances, combining structured, repeating steps with modern ballroom techniques.
This is one that’s usually on the dance list …..at most dancers , it’s Called ….The New Vogue waltz
Who Ever Is running the dance normally makes out a list of dances for the program which is normally about 20 different dances ….each is danced twice …= 40 dances if you get up for each one …..I give tangos a miss cause it hurts my knee …
to be honest I get a bit sick of the new vogue waltz …….but still get up
My parents were "jitterbuggers". In fact, I wouldn't be here if my dad hadn't answered the question, "Can you dance, sailor?" with "Can I dance? Just watch me!" And off they danced.
They were still "cutting a rug" up until my dad died at 70. We kids used to love to watch them dance.
My mother played piano, danced and sang in night clubs before she became a mother.
Her first in WW11 husband jumped to his death parashoot didn't open over France.
Her fiance got killed in car wreck. She finally found one that didn't die and married my father.
They too seperated.
