Well there he is — 30-ish Duncan the Dutch Warmblood. I took this last month. I take a lot of pictures because my eyes lie to me. Pictures don’t generally lie unless the angle is wrong.

Duncan is a Seal Bay. His winter coat is striking, I think.

He doesn’t look this handsome today. He likes to roll, and it’s shedding season, so they roll more. It’s the time of year when horse owners leave the barn with as much horse hair on them as the horse has😂😂

Duncan is looking up at the ridge. He is transfixed with the goings on up there.

I was living on the west coast of Washington and went to a Peruvian Paso exhibition, just to see what they were like, and was totally amazed at how smooth they are .
I was able to ride one afterwards, and once I did that, I knew that I wanted a gaited horse. I mostly lived in the country as an adult, so my kids all grew up riding horses, too.

I always rode western, and mostly trail riding, and got my first pony when I was 10, a welsh gelding, that I dearly loved. I miss riding, but I think my balance is not good enough now, and if the horse lurched or I had to get my balance, i don’t know if I could still catch myself before i fell off or not.
We live in town now, so no place for a horse anymore anyway.
This was me as a teenager with my pony, Dandy, and my little dog, Sugar, who always went along when I went riding.

@Yvonne Smith , I love your picture! Dandy is beautiful. Did Sugar ride with you when she got tired of walking.

My step-grandad raised Welsh/Morgans. He also raised beef cattle to pay for his horse habit, lol. He was the Pegasus Wings beneath my feet.

I love these old photos. Tearful but in a sentimental way😇

Hello everyone. I'm Dave. I live in Delaware. I've been married for 34 years, have 31 year old twins, and two dogs that keep me busy.

I'm 62 and have no plans to retire any time soon. It has nothing to do with money, I just really enjoy my job and the people I work with.

Like everyone else here, I am a senior, but I'm fairly active.

Health-wise, I've had two heart attacks 9 and 6 years ago. I had knee replacement nearly a year ago.

So now, I go to the gym at least 4 times a week, mainly to walk on the treadmill and ride the life cycle. I mostly just do cardio, but will do some weights a couple times a week as well. I don't need to look like an Adonis. That ship sailed long ago.

I have my views on the hot button topics, (politics, abortion, vaccinations, etc.) but I keep them to myself. It's been my experience that once a person has their mind set, it's useless to try and convince them otherwise.

I was a member at another senior forum until I was personally attacked by another member out of the blue. I don't need that, so I left.

Anyway, here's Goober and Sammie.

Hi, @Dave the Wave , and welcome to the SOC forum ! We have other refugees here who left other forums for similar reasons, and you are most welcome here.
We have only one basic tenet that we try (our best) to go by, and it is something like “try not to be easily offended, and try not to offend other people”. We do the best we can to follow that, and we pretty much can discuss any kind of issues without attacking the person for their viewpoint here.
We might disagree on our opinions, but that is fine,

You might have noticed that we all use a first/last name. It does not have to be your real name , it just needs to look like it could be a real name. You can let @Ken Anderson know what you want your last name to be, and he will change it for you.

Most of us have pets, too, and we all enjoy reading about what they are doing. Just feel free to jump right in with any thread that looks interesting to you, or start one that you are interested in.

Welcome from Virginia, Dave. I was about your age when I "got retired." I dodged 3 rounds of annual layoffs and then got hit by friendly fire. Had I been back near DC I would have jumped back in somewhere else, but I was telecommuting from a rural area I moved to and retail was my only option here, so I hung it up.

Cute pups. Dogs are the best.

I'm Ron, I'm single, I live in Ohio and am retired 26 years this coming June. I'm 76 . I am [or at least was] 6'1" 230# silver/white hair, blue eyes. Nothing special about me, I live on a pension and have no complaints actually. I am conservative but try to consider all points, from all people. It is becoming harder all the time. I have developed some health issues but, won't bore ya with that.

As I said in another thread, I had been here before the shutdown , kept seeing closed/shutdown, etc so I drifted to another site, got thrown out of there, started looking around again and discovered this place was open again, so I re-registered . Always liked it here.

Howdy from Houston, Ron. I think I remember you as RP with a number (?) from the other senior forum. I left there several years ago so I'm probably mistaken. Anyway, it's nice to have you here. This is a "mostly" conservative bunch which I appreciate. It's getting harder to avoid liberal hysterical hogwash everywhere.
