What Are You Doing Today?

I woke up about 7:00 am but stayed in bed with Ella (her insistence) until about 10:00, dozing off and on. Then I got up, brought some stuff out to the compost pile, augered a hole, and added the materials, covering it with shredded cardboard and another couple of sheets, re-fastening the tarps.

After going online for a while, I did 10 minutes on the elliptical machine, then decided to walk outdoors instead. I took a 48-minute hike along the railroad tracks and along a snowmobile trail through a wooded area here in town, then back again, passing by my house to the point where the tracks (or my access to it) ended at the Great Northern Paper Company property. Then walked home via the streets, veering off downtown, for a 9-minute walk. This finished my minimums on everything but movement, and that only because the Apple Watch only measures the movement of my arm during hikes; so, while there is a lot more movement involved than, let's say, the elliptical machine, it doesn't know how to measure that, so I always feel cheated on walks or hikes.

Last couple days I've done some early spring cleaning, I did it in slow motion but got it done, also mopped part of the floors, Jake had to finish the mopping. Also cleaned kitchen shelves rack, which were past due.
Today I'll do more.

I need to clean the windows inside and out when I can. One of my daughters bought me a 10' long window cleaning pole with clothe brush , only used it once when I first got it, it works good for high outside windows.

I hope soon I can get back into the woods, last week Jake cut the largest vine I've ever seen. I need to get to the others.

Today is our Kroger shopping day, so around 10 we will jump in the old pickup truck and head for Krogers and see what goodies they have on clearance sale today. Nice weather, and it is always good to get out of the house and go somewhere !
Later on this afternoon, we pick up Miss Kitty after her doctor visit, and bring her home to recover.

Dinner is in the crockpot, laundry has been washed and is in the dryer, all the critters have been fed and watered, so the day is chugging right along.

I didnt do much Today,I didnt feel well...

Thank goodness I started HIGH DOSE VIT C days ago when I first felt something amiss)

HIGH DOSE: I mean 10 500mg tablets (Several times a day)

I didn't do a heck of a lot today. We went to see the ophthalmologist this morning for my husband to have his eyes tested and see what's-what with his eyes before he has his cataract surgery. He has to go back again next Wednesday to redo the tests to be sure the eye tests were accurate. Apparently having dry eyes can askew the eye tests sometimes, which my husband has. He has to put in some artificial tears until next week’s visit. (I did not have dry eyes when I had my eye examine, before my cataract surgery.) Then his surgery will most likely be the following week.

Going to doctor appointments is always tiring; the drive, sitting, waiting, sitting some more, and then the visit and driving back home. 🥱 When we got home, I ended up doing a little on line shopping, read a book a little while, and I got a little sleepy so I took a little nap.

I got up when my wife woke me up to tell me that she was stuck in the driveway. Although we had barely two inches of snow last night, the town plow had packed the front of the driveway. So, I shoveled as much snow from under and around her car as I could reach, and that was enough. She was able to get out.

I then proceeded to shovel the rest of the driveway to the back of the house and around my Tracker. Next, I shoveled the sidewalk and all the paths I like to keep clear (to the oil tank, the compost pile, and a few paths to the railroad bed because I walk there and cats use it, too). That took about 90 minutes but wasn't particularly difficult.

Next, I did 21 minutes on the elliptical machine, followed by a 26-minute walk along the sidewalks, and a 22-minute hike home through the woods and along the railroad track.

In between, I did some editing on the directory.

Dealing with elderly relatives can be mind and strength consuming.
Made a couple of jars or jalapeño/pepper/carrot pickle. It is almost a currency here:)
Play cookies took a while. Shortbread hearts glued to hearts with heart cut outs with sand plum jelly, dusted with powdered sugar and the cutout filled with liquid jelly. I kept the cut outs and glued some and just dusted others. Packaged in heavy duty clear patisserie bags with red/white bows. Small Valentines for special people. SO tested one and commented “edible”. A friend came by and he got a to go bag for the family and a sample. “Those are good m’am”. Can’t take MS out of a boy:)

Not a lot accomplished here.

Gloomy day but dry and only a bit below freezing. Utility workers tramped around outside, from the yellow paint left on the snow and the yellow flags must be gas company or a contractor. Egad, I hope they aren't screwing around replacing meters again or something. When I decided to go out and be nosey after 2 hours they packed up and left.

Postponed unboxing and setting up an appliance. Counter space and storage is always a headache in a small kitchen.

Busy day. 8 o'clock Dr visit, then trip to drug store to pick up meds for lady friend, then pick up laundry, then hair cut, and finally stop in the license bureau to get a handicap parking placard. Home by noon. Been a veg for the rest of the day. Did have a nice nap in the late afternoon.

I called one of my brothers this evening - he is in failing health, and it is probably Hospice time. His lovely bride is taking care of him.

A beautiful, cold and windy day. B12 shot, scrounged penny loafer marked down from 80 to 23 and clunky sandals for the same. Babes went home with me! Wind gust blew my truck door closed and my head was still out there. Mother of all headaches but no blood. Note to self - look at turtles for guidance.

Sorry to hear about your brother, Hoot. My older sister is having some challenges but she's hanging in there.

How are you doing these days?
