Well, Yvonne, when I told you folks that I was involved in roping/rodeo, and that we still are, that is, as rodeo fans only now, I wasn't I was kidding.

Continuing to put together moving boxes. Just taped together two 1-time used Wardrobe boxes and put winter coats in them that we won't use here. My wife is working while I'm doing this. Other than putting together these boxes, I vacuumed the apartment, took out the trash and made us a ham/cheese omelet this AM.

My wife's birthday (76) is this coming Saturday and we will put on some nice western duds, including black hats, go to MGM Grand Buffet for breakfast and then head down the street to the new Fontainebleau Hotel/Casino and check it out. She's wanted to stop by there, out of curiosity, so Roy and Dale will make their appearance. LOL

My wife birthday was this past Saturday. It was decided, early last week, that we'd have buffet breakfast at the MGM Hotel/Casino on the Strip and then head up to Fontainebleau Hotel/Casino to check it out. We both were in western attire, including black felt cowboy hats and Wrangler jeans. I was also wearing a black sport coat. In all honesty, we did look GOOD or even GREAT!!

A few of the off ramps, from the I-15 to the Strip are being worked on, so it can be a real headache to get to where you are going, but we made it to the MGM. The buffet was good, but not as good as it was last month during the rodeo. Had to walk quite a ways to get from where we parked to the buffet, but finally got there. Played a couple of slots, but won zip (nothing).

Headed to Fontainebleau Hotel/Casino, which is a brand new hotel/casino on the Strip. I can tell you this, the place is for the young and rich! Again, played a couple of slots, but, again, nothing.

Then we decided to head to South Point Hotel/Casino, because it was (basically) on our way home. It was getting close to dinner time and we wanted their Garden Buffet that serves Prime Rib.

When we got home, we were totally exhausted! We were in bed by 8:15, just to get back up at 7AM for breakfast at iHop. Wife loved her birthday and her birthday gift of a new short-sleeve western blouse.

And, btw, yes, we were looked at quite a bit at both MGM and Fontainebleau, due to what we were wearing. My wife was wearing our 2019 Cheyenne Frontier Days Buckle and I was wearing our new National Finals Rodeo Las Vegas 2023 Buckle. No rodeo or anything like it going on, but we sure had fun on Saturday. I'll post a picture of my wife that I took.

This past Wednesday, Valentine's Day, wife and I went to a buffet at a local hotel/casino. The prime rib was good, but they have served better. After a good dinner, we headed to the Equestrian Center inside the hotel/casino. There was a NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) Futurity going on. It can be spectacular seeing an excellent Cutting horse and it's rider working cow in the arena, just what would happen on a cattle ranch.

We've also been to a NRHA (National Reining Horse Association) Futurity. Going around in a circle, with a very quick stop. Also, running down the arena with a sliding stop. The longer the slide, the more points the horse/rider gets.

Now have our Carson City and Reno hotel rooms reserved thru AAA/Auto Club. Will be going up there for about 5 days in June. Had to use my AAA App on my iPhone, since AAA online hotel reservation wouldn't work. First hotel is Holiday Inn and second one is Hampton Inn. Both have a free breakfast. Neither is cheap, but we did get the free cancellation policy and AAA Travel Plan Insurance. Will be driving the 2021 Dodge Durango up. The high during June there is 80, whereas in Henderson/Las Vegas area it can be 95 or closer to 100.

We think the difference in scenery will be like "day and night", being the fact both areas are next to the Sierra Mountain Range. The mountain range here, around us, is all rock and bush. Not a single tree! Much lower population and slower life style.

Will not be telling SIL about the trip, mainly because it's not a vacation. It's more of a relocation trip. Will tell her when we leave, so she can't make arrangements to come up there.

It is currently raining, but what we really miss is some t-storm action. That very seldom happens here.

@John Brunner or anyone that has a "Sport" switch on their vehicle: We have it, but haven't used it yet. It's suppose to give much more driving power/acceleration when switched to the "on" position. If you have it, have you ever used it?

I don't like it. It lets the RPM get too high before it finally shifts. I tried it when I was test driving the car and I backed off of the accelerator before it shifted because it took uncomfortably long to up-shift. It took it way past the power curve, IMHO. I may have tried it once again after I bought the car 5 years ago.

I have used the Manual Shift mode quite frequently as an unsatisfying poser substitute for a stick shift on these windy roads. Subsequent years have included paddle shifters as an option.

Thanks for the info, John. Can it be turned "on" while driving or is it better to turn on when sitting at stop light or simply sitting still? We are going to end up trying it, but if the RPM's do go to high, we won't use it again. Sounds like it turns the engine/transmission into a sports car. This Durango is a 6-cylinder, but sure runs like an 8. Then again, a lot of difference between a 2005 w/182,000 and a 2021 w/ 30,000.
