    Kate......... Your chutney looks awesome..
I like chutney as a replacement for relish or on burgers..

The snow we had last night all melted today with the temperature at 6c and sunny..
Again tonight the temperature will be around the -10c mark..

It’s tasty as well Steve ..and it keeps very well I only make it once every 2 years or so depending on if I have tomatoes
cause I don’t buy tomatoes …..to make my chutney ….only use what I grow

Think the only difference in chutney and relish is some add dried fruits like sultanas / raisins some add extra apple ( I add about 2 apples to my chutney just cause I have them growing )

I use the plastic between the lid and contents of any foods that have vinegar in them cause it rusts the lids otherwise
It’s a US made product called Press n seal…it’s like a sticky plastic wrap..it only appeared here in Aust when Costco opened

Yes, I know the Press'n Seal product very well as I also use it as well as the regular cling wrap..
I made a zucchini chutney a few years ago that also had some fruit in it and we enjoyed every bite of it.. it was a lot of work, but worth it.. I had some HUGE zucchini that we couldn't eat.. I also made some zucchini loaves that were very good and I used raisins as well in that..

No shop bought chutneys measure up to homemade @Steve North

I use the press n seal for my jams as well Steve , I like how you one do peel it back to use what ever you have in a jar a stretch it back over the jar again.

The only shop I’ve ever seen press n seal,is , Costco and you have to buy it in a pack of 3 boxes, the last time I bought it was prob 3 years ago and it cost me about $20.00

I always give a friend who gives me pickled zuchinni slices a pack of the P&S

Looks like we are in for a few days of extreme heavy rain..
The daytime temperatures will be on the warm side (10c to 15c) as well causing possible flooding as the ground is still frozen..We need the rain badly as we didn't get much snow this winter.. Forest fires are very bad this year..
My car is in the carport and we will be staying home...

Today we took off the head cone on our dog's head as the incisions are fully healed..
What a relief for him.. Naturally he started licking the wounds, but they are fully healed and the stitches are completely dissolved.. He was so happy that he couldn't stop licking Annmarie as thanks..
I also bought him his first bag of dog food, as he was up to now, on puppy food for the first year.. Boy did he ever dig into the new food.. I buy him very good food... Hills Science Diet which is a good food.. Good food isn't cheap.. This cost me a fortune, but it is worth it for him.. We eat well, so does the dog eat well..

Louise... He is part of our family.. We love him to pieces, however sometimes he does drive us crazy with his active performances.. Good food is vitally important for a healthy life..
He is still a puppy and he must be allowed to be a puppy..
We sent out children to school to learn.. We will be sending him to training school soon as well..

We got hit with a severe hail storm last night...
We have a balcony off the bedroom upstairs which has a roof.. The roof was totally destroyed..
Now we need a new roof over the balcony, not the house.. We live in an "A" Frame house..
I will be calling my house insurance tomorrow to see if I am covered and how much is my deductible..
I took many pictures of the roof from my cell phone and I will post them on here when I put the pictures on the computer..

I'm sorry about the damage, too, Steve. But I'm glad you have insurance to cover it. I never knew that y'all had hail up there. So, I take it that the snow is gone as well as the snow flowers?

Kate, I had never heard of chutney. We probably have something like it here by a different name. I looked it up and found a recipe that sounds good. What do you put in yours? Can you give me a recipe?

    Yep
It’s in a book I’ve had Mmmmm 50+ years cause Aussie land changed from
pounds and ounces in 1966 …. And my book is in pounds and ounces

But not home till next monday so I’ll write out for ya altho I know off by heart how many tomatoes / onions vinegar spices sugar you need …. Do ya want pounds and ounces or Kg
    and ltrs …
    So
you need 8 pounds of tomatoes.

Food not in recipe that I add
Capsicums ( red sweet pepper )2 large one diced
3 large green apples peeled and cut small
A shake or two of turmeric
    extra mustard
Extra Curry ….. like all cooks do a taste test :):):):):)
I didn’t this time…… but I have used half malt vinegar and half sweet vinegar with great success

I froze my summer crop till I had enough
dragged then all out one day a took skins off
really easy with frozen tomatoes …. Just run under tap and they slip off
After doing that I put back in freezer till I had time to cook them ( they were still frozen when I put them back )
    So stay tuned next week
    @Shirley Martin
