Kate, I'd like to say something inspirational about this but maybe her neck just itches.

Some of these pix make me think I could survive parts of Australia although a lot of her terrain intimidates me.
Can you recommend some books on plants, preferably edible, of the country? I would think the Aboriginal women would have some amazing ones on plant foods and medicines.

    We’ve always eaten Quandongs
    https://www.bushfoodshop.com.au/quandong/

They grow wild in some areas , they are very tart / dryish / very thin type of fruit and are mainly used for stewing for making into pies or jams but can be eaten raw ( when they turn red )

They grow in mainly arid areas

They have a strange growing habit of only growing if they can ….and do …attach themselves to another tree or shrub
it’s the only way they will grow , it’s very rare if anyone has a tree growing in a backyard

We are heading off to a warmer part of Aussie land in about 2 weeks time , we are heading for this area which is the border of
    New South Wales and Queensland

If you look at the left of photo that is the state of NSW ….to,the right is Queensland

Footpath is the border marking ….strangest border I’ve seen in my extensive travels of Australia

The huge A frame looking thing is a border marker in the middle of a huge roundabout
