As we become "more mature," some tasks around the ole' homestead are more challenging. Are there tools, gadgets, or methods that help you "git 'er dun?" Please share. I recently bought this O-Cedar Easy Wring mop and bucket, and I have to wonder why on earth I waited so long. Such a labor saver, and hands never touch a wet mop or dirty water. I'm probably the last person to get one of these, but I am impressed at what a labor-saving device it is. (About $30 from Amazon.)
My best labor saving "device" in the kitchen was to replace the white floor covering with a dark speckled pattern. Cut down on the mopping by at least 50%.
Hee hee Nancy My favourite product may sound modest - its disposable dusters ! Yaya ! They pick it all up leaving not a speck then in the bin they go, even do me kitchen and bathroom floors with them - loverly
I use magic erasers, not the ribbed - the original, cut in half to clean just about everything if I'm deep cleaning. Then I use windex the rest of the time on most surfaces. I really like everything to look 'shiny'. A fuzzy sock on your hand helps dust both top and bottom of the blinds at the same time. I do windows about every couple of weeks with a bit of dish detergent in water, wipe on the windows and squeegee off. I have a glass shower. I put a clear shower liner on the inside of it and pull it closed when in shower to keep the glass from getting water spots. With a $1 scour stick, you can easily get any rings out of the toilette, even rust stains. Don't think I've bought any new gadgets lately. I happen to enjoy cleaning. I look for at least an hours worth every day.
A handheld vacuum cleaner. I sweep up little piles of dust, dirt, whatever it sucks up around the house. Excellent teaching tool for my grandbabies too.
Me too - I dust the floors every day, then after Paul has hoovered once a week, Its then time to go over with the Swifter mop
The thing that's made my life a lot easier recently is this little identity theft stamp... I have file boxes galore of paperwork, and it takes an absolute age to shred them, this has been brilliant and so quick to deal with it all.... I just sit while wtaching tv, sifting through file box after file box, ..yesterday I managed to clear 4 full file boxes in just one hour.
I've known about them for a long time Emma, but I just thought they were some kind of fad, and I used the shredder.. but I had so many file boxes that needed clearing out of peperwork I just didn't want to face the long drawn out job with the shredder, so I thought I'd give the stamper a try... . if you're going to buy one.. buy the one which has 3 refills with it... the yellow one.. !!
Cheap p/c, internet connection, 27" monitor in the kitchen to pull up recipes beats reading printed. Toss in Alexa playing music & meal prep takes on a whole new fun way to prepare something together.
