We had warnings of possible freezing temps this morning and tomorrow morning. I only have six plants in the garden so I found six buckets to cover them with yesterday afternoon. I was going to put them over the plants when the sun went down. I forgot. I remembered about 4am and went out and covered the plants. I don't think it was freezing yet but a couple of tomato plants looked awfully bad.
It's nippy again this morning but the sun is out and I think our plants we just put in the ground a few days ago will do just fine. I watched the News this morning and saw a lot of damage the storms brought to different places...I hope no one on here had any serious problems with those storms. There was a lot of noise from them over here...but otherwise everything is fine. Looks like Winter just wants to hang around as long as possible even though it's Spring's turn now.
We had pouring rain yesterday, and the yard looked like a small pond. I told Bobby that Chipper would have to swim if he went outside into the front yard, he is so short. They warned us that tornadoes were also possible, but aside from heavy rain and a few thunder-boomers, we didn’t have anything serious here. I did bring in all of the plants on Friday afternoon and put the on the porch where they would be safe out of the rain. It is supposed to be cold the next couple of days; but no freezing in our forecast.
I found the instructions for building the ark. It says I'm supposed to take my wife so there's no need to butter up the ark builder. That said, I too am much blessed to have an amazing wife. Besides, somebody has to help feed the animals and clean the stalls when they get aboard.
Well the day turned out to be a tad more complicated than I thought it would be, fitting a new mixer tap/faucet in the kitchen proved to be difficult because it had kind of rusted itself in place, so I had to remove the whole sink and disconnect all the pipework in the end. The new tap is fitted and works well, though there is some repair work needed on the sink cabinet and splashback. I feel exhausted now, I am not so young as I used to be ..... The sink.. I did reward myself with a couple of breaded cod fillets and some roast potatoes and leeks I hope you are all having a good Sunday......
I think I found the reason you're tired. The hammer on the cabinet isn't big enough. When all else fails, use a bigger hammer is some sage advice I have used on a number of occasions.
Well I do have a couple of sledgehammers in the shed @Bobby Cole , but lifting them is no easy matter these days, I need to do some serious work at the gym in preparation.....
Good morning all, it's a sunny one so far, but clouds are moving in, I will start earlier on decorating Elizabeth's room today, because school has started so the house will be empty. I realised this is my last complete week here in the UK, before I go to Russia next week until the end of June, I am sad that I will miss the late spring here, but I guess I can't have everything. Tomorrow evening I am going with Caroline to see "The Phantom Thread" which looks to be a good movie. A review if you are interested..... Enjoy your week.....
Aah, to sleep perchance to dream ................... I'd forego the dream for a decent nights sleep ! Hope you're all alert today @Terry Page Sinks damn nuisance they are, my least favourite household item !
They were a necessary invention. Prior to sinks, women who lived on 2nd floor flats would simply dump stuff out of the window onto the street. That particular habit made it necessary for men to walk on the street side when they were escorting their ladies making men the target for a good nasty drenching. The question here is, "who washed the clothes after the man got nastified"? Answer: the wives. So who begged men for an answer to the problem of having to prematurely wash so many clothes? the wives. Then, after the invention of indoor plumbing and sinks, who gets to fix it when it breaks? the husband....... but men still got dirty from fixing the plumbing so who begged men to come up with something better than a washboard and tub? the wives Now, when the washer broke, who got to fix it? the husband........... To a guy, throwing stuff out of windows was just fine and husbands didn't ever have to fix a washboard. Matter of fact, washboards make dandy musical instruments. Have a wonderful day Ya'll..................!!!!!
Ha ha @Bobby Cole As it happens we've just come away from the dreaded sink, Fabs doing a bit of plumbing there as for me - well I held the torch into perfect seeing position and I had trouble standing after that
Good Morning from Seattle. Trip out was great, and the hotel is very nice. Out to dinner last night, and set for some exploring today. ( Seafood at the "Pier" is calling...) Always nice to take a break from the norm.
Come to think of it, Ekuk is cranking up for Herring and later on in about the middle of May will kick into salmon season until mid august. As of yesterday, the population of Ekuk was 2. In a couple of days it will be a couple of hundred and by June there will be about 1500 salmon processers,
