President Donald Trump sent shock waves across the globe when he accepted an invitation from North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un for talks. No sitting U.S. president has ever met with a leader from North Korea.

South Korea: Trump will meet with Kim Jong Un 01:35
(CNN)President Donald Trump has agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the White House announced, setting the scene for an unprecedented encounter between two nations that only recently threatened to wipe each other out.

The talks would be the first between a sitting US president and a North Korean leader and will take place by May, according to South Korea's national security adviser, Chung Eui-yong, who delivered the invitation to Trump after a visit by his delegation to Pyongyang earlier this week. Chung said Kim had offered to put Pyongyang's nuclear and missile program on the table.

The North Korean leader had told the South Koreans "he is committed to denuclearization" and pledged that North Korea would "refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests," Chung said. Kim also told the South Koreans he understands that the US and South Korea would move forward with their joint military exercises later this year.

    From another source:

President Trump agrees to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong-un

Speaking just outside the White House’s West Wing last night, South Korean National Security Advisor Chung Eui-Yong delivered news that President Donald J. Trump’s maximum pressure policy—together with international solidarity driven by American leadership—had brought the North Korea situation to an important juncture

“Today, I had the privilege of briefing President Trump on my recent visit to Pyongyang, North Korea,” Chung said. “In our meeting, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said he is committed to denuclearization. Kim pledged that North Korea will refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests. He understands that the routine joint military exercises between the Republic of Korea and the United States must continue.”

Kim also expressed his eagerness to meet President Trump “as soon as possible.” The President said he would meet Kim Jong-un by May to achieve permanent denuclearization.

“Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached. Meeting being planned!,” President Trump tweeted last night.

The news media has been saying for the last year that President Trump was going to get us all blown to bits by confronting Kim. Could it possibly be that they are wrong?!?!?

I think most everything they say about Trump is wrong. They are used to reporting on politicians--mostly lawyers except G. W. Bush and R. Reagan. This may be much more like the Reykjavik meeting under Reagan or the China Summit under Nixon than anything we have seen recently...if Trump is properly prepared. Mr. Kim will try to maneuver things his way as his father and grandfather succeeded in doing. Trump will be different and his foreign policy seems in disarray (partly the fault of the Senate not taking action on his nominees), so he is giving Kim a big stage, but will Trump have the courage to walk away as Reagan did? I would bet he will. The news media of the time were horrified by Reagan's action and predicted war, but instead it helped bring the demise of the Soviet Union.

The North Korean Regime has based it's pedestals upon lies and subversion for so long that believability now hinges mainly on deep hope rather than convincing belief, before the fact.

Some say its risky. But great things often come to those willing to take great risks. Maybe the biggest risk is to what we consider protocol, which will quickly repair itself if the President is successful.

If anyone is following Q Anon you will find Trump has already met with NK leader in China's forbidden city. Trump said the has not fired of a missile since November 28. The MSM is so slow at giving out news that it has became a laugh.

It is a risk. But doing nothing will not get the job done.
